The Klingon Security Chief barked. “Just as the captain ordered. Two officers per team, minimum of one team per deck. Add an additional team to high profile areas such as Main Engineering. Report to me when all teams are established. This petaQ will not escape us!”

“Yes, sir!” NE Winters responded before rushing back to the Security Office. He issued a series of orders, pairing the officers into teams to secure the decks. Since Main Engineering was a priority target, he set two teams to guard there. He decided to send NE Reynolds to rendezvous with NE Jefferson in the Cargo Bay. He looked over the remaining officers, and one in particular caught his eye. “Ensign Watson, you’re with me. We are going to secure the Crew Mess. It is the only place on board that every single crewman has the potential to visit. Maybe we can listen in, and find out something useful.”

The pair headed to the turbolift. “Deck 21,” Winters said immediately as they entered.

When they entered the Crew Mess, Winters would discover it was packed with Junior Officers (not all that surprising considering the hour). Scattered about a sea of nameless faces was an assortment of engineers and operations officers, who would have greater knowledge on anything pertaining to the cargo bay. Amongst those officers, members of Lockehart’s diplomatic attaché and a few spread out marines could be found enjoying their meal with Dauntless junior staff.

NE Winters turned to NE Watson after a few minutes of surveying the sea of people. “Watson, I believe we should make our way towards some of the more knowledgeable of those here. I will get some food and sit at a table near some of the members of the diplomatic attache, to see what I can learn. You should make your way towards those engineering/operations officers and see what you can find out.” They split up to cover more ground.
