T’Pon’s journey was an unusual one for a Starfleet officer. Having earned two master’s degrees, one in forensic chemistry and one in law, she was decidedly overqualified to join a regular crew. Having declined an offer from the Vulcan Academy of Science to become a researcher in forensic science was another unusual thing about her.

Why did she want to join the regular fleet?

Simple. She was one of those few Vulcans that could not tolerate regularity. Oh believe me, she was logical as hell, just assertively logical. She wanted the opportunity to logic in many places and do a lot of it.

She was originally commissioned as a security officer. Her investigative skill mixed with Vulcan telepathy made her rise quickly to the rank of CoS of her ship. Command has noticed her skill, and made her a junior investigator in JAG.

She rose even quicker through those ranks, first serving as a detective at the Starfleet Academy’s security detail and second as a Starfleet MP at the Embassy of Vulcan. Her connections managed to get her a commander’s rank on the USS Dauntless. She was very well-connected indeed, given the VAS’ constant and endless begging to have her join them.

Having arrived on the USS Dauntless, she was told to meet with the senior staff at the Captain’s office. She was eager to meet a Romulan, as she was interested to know what would drive her cousins to join Starfleet.

Having entered through the air lock, she walked to the Captain’s office and rang the chime.
