Snowflake crawled underneath the table and lay down. “ I geas snowflake fingered you needed some friends” crystal joked with a smile. “ it been a long time since we have seen you out and about how are you, Heather.” She added after a moment.

“I am well, usually I eat in my office, as Engineering Chief I’m rarely afforded time off to socialize, and you Crystal?” Heather asked knowing it would be rude not to ask after the marine CO health as well.

Esther shovled more food in her mouth, listening to the other two officers converse but enjoying her food too much to say anything just yet. She hadn’t realised how famished she was until she’d started eating. It had been a long time since she’d had a good Hasperat.

“ I’m good” crystal said with a smile. “ so what keeps you so busy. You know it’s important to take brakes evey now and then.” Crystal said.

“I do, but Engines are like the lifes blood of a ship they need to be maintained.” Heather explained as easily as she could.

Esther smirked, briefly placing her utensils to the side. “So do the Engineers.” She stated matter-of-factly, “What good are they to us if even their CE is stir crazy from being cooped up.”

“I like the quiet, I’m not exactly stir crazy.” She smirked taking another small bite of her mostly untouched meal.

Crystal smiled. “ so what do you guys like to do outside of work,” Crystal asked.

Heather looked to her food thinking as she moved it around, “I don’t have many hobbies to be quite honest.” She shrugged, “I mean I guess I like to work on the holodeck train and what not to keep myself on top of my game,” Heather shrugged.

“Holonovels,” Esther took a casual sip of her drink, “I love holonovels. What do you like to do?”

“Haven’t had the time, for holonovels or the likes mostly doing training sessions on the holodeck,” Heather admitted with a shrug.

“I could never get into training,” Esther grimaced, “I was always only just fit enough at the Acadamy and I’m afraid my fitness levels have probably gone down more since.” she chuckled lightly, “I guess I don’t really see the point in making yourself sweat for hours just to make your body sore and tired the next day,”

Heather looked at her oddly, “It’s not about making your body sore and tired the next day, it’s about keeping your instincts sharp, your body in shape, your senses and reflexes sharp so you can handle yourself in a hand to hand combat situation should the need arise. “Unfortunately, it’s something I got into at a young age. Whether that’s physical training or engineering training. It’s something I’m into.”

“When I was younger, we didn’t train like that. Or at all.” She’d had all the freedom in the world as a child in their small cargo ship. No schooling or training of that they didn’t have to have. Then the school that she had gone to on Bajor had focused more on academics than sports. So Esther couldn’t understand Heather’s voluntary training. “I didn’t really have to do any until I got to the Acadamy, and then I only did enough to pass.”

Heather looked to Lt. Prinz and decided it was better to not respond to that. “Everyone’s family life is different, what was right for my family isn’t right for others,” Heather said pointedly though.
