Papa was not on the bridge. And she knee he wouldn’t be in his quarters, so the only other place was the medical bay. She flounced in, all the energy of a tidal wave. “Papa!?” Her voice singsonged out. “I want story time!” Her laugh followed her words.

He looked at her his heart sang when she called him pappa, “Little old for story time aren’t you” he said, intentionally trying to stir the pot. “I thought you wanted to be treated like a woman?”

Vash pouted even as he saw her eyes flash. “But Papaaaa I never heard the stories as a child, how else will I learn them. You said I have to know our history and traditions. That the matriarch has to keep them alive.” But she was reaching for, aiming, and throwing a pillow at him.

Eli caught the pillow then tossed it back at her, grabbing a second it was one. Fffwap. “Take that” he said his pillow smacking her in the side of the head.

“Oh!” She glared at him, snatched up both pillows and launched them at him. Her aim was good, but not like Eli. “If this combat training, I need more pillows!” she ducked behind the biobed laughing.
