He looked at Noril, “You want him to leave?” he said then turned on the lamp. He was pretty sure that she did not , how open she was scared the living life out of him, she was so young.

Vash’s eyes snapped up to him. Elias was scared, worried. Did he still think Noril would hurt her? Surely not. She shook her head no. They could stay. She fiddled with the blanket and sheet and soon had herself draped politely, but allowed the light to get to as much skin as possible. They were all so modest. Normally she would press her advantage through their discomfort. That’s what you did with a mark, but they weren’t marks. She patted Elias’ hand reassuringly. “Safe.”

he looked at her relieved, but when she touched his hand, something shifted in him, he smiled warmly but he was sad and lost in a thought that was not pulling him down. “I, ” he “I should go”

“Why?” Vash asked with blunt but not unkind curiosity. Did the twins notice how heavy he was inside? Was this normal of humans? She hadn’t met many humans.

Hi eyes focused on her for a long moment, squeezing her hand he started to pull it away, finally he spoke. “I, ” he started again. “You remind me of someone is all, I need some time.” he said but did not let go of her hand. Internally it felt like if he let go of her hand he would never see her again.

“ELI” her voice screamed as the rubble collapsed around them nocking him out of the way. When he finally came around, Marik was smacking his face, “Eli” he tapped we have to go, she’s gone, comeon”

Eli was staring through her now not at her.

Vash could feel the searing grief and the disconnect from the present. The need to hold on. She couldn’t hear the memory though. Her Deltan gifts didn’t work that way. Not unless she was really close to someone. Or so she had been told. It had never happened. When he didn’t let go, she looked at Noril and Sisnil questioningly. She was making Elias very sad. That had NEVER happened. Her talents, all of them, made that incredibly unlikely. Only if she wished them to have a negative reaction to her, did someone. She wasn’t sure what to make of it.

“He’s remembering,” Sisnil said softly. “It doesn’t have to do with you.” He patted Eli’s shoulder gently. “If you need a minute, she will be fine with us.”

Warmth raced up his arm - compassion and comfort. Her eyes stared up at him. “It’s okay, Elias. Thank you for taking care of me.”

Eli looked at her, he so wanted to tell her to stop that it was not good for her, but peace was something he never had, something he was not worthy off and he could not step away from it, “I” he paused “Its ok,ill be.” He paused for a long moment. “Ok”

Vash felt his rejection/denial of comfort, and she tried to convey a sense of acceptance to Elias. However, Vash’s training was limited, and had not been focused on subtly. So instead of “you are wonderful the way you are” it hit him more like “YOU ARE WONDERFUL AND WILL LIKE YOURSELF AND BE HAPPY

Eli’s pain ran very deep, it was more a part of him than an emotions like it had attached itself to his very being. She thought for a moment it had not worked and then “Wow I don’t know what came over me!” he said a renewed hope in his step. He shifted the light and turned it up a bit. He was whistling a toon as he moved around.

“Vash,” Noril chuckled, “Maybe leave that to me.”
