Her head tipped to the side. “You think they aren’t watching?” She lifted a delicate shoulder as if it didn’t matter. “If they aren’t, maybe you should ditch this ship.” She nodded vigorously about the food. She wanted to with him, but decided not to push her luck.

Noril entered with an apologetic look. “Of course we were. Listening to your minds.” He commented. “There was a small emergency to deal with. How are you doing?” He asked Vash, smiling.

Did her face light up? Maybe, but she was so composed it was hard to tell. “I am much better. Elias has taken good care of me.” Her voice was not like before. There was that ethereal quality but lacked the musical tone. It was raspy and tired. She had so many questions and she fought the urge to reach out and touch him so she could share her empathy with him.

Eli looked at him then her, she was obviously happy to see him. “I was just getting her something to eat” he said, “You hungry?” he asked Noril moving towards the door, he swiftly picked up his flask and put it in his pocket.

Vash grinned and got this irresistibly mischievous look on her face. “He’s afraid I’ll steal it again. He’s making sure to keep it away from me.”

Noril gave her a playfully dirty look. “You’re too young to drink.”

By the time looked back Eli was gone, flask sitting on the counter. He moved around the galley and got some more ration pie going, and some shakes for them all.

Vash rolled her eyes. “I am not.” She wasn’t either. She’d been allowed to drink from the time she was old enough to choose what she wanted to drink. She didn’t like it though. Her Deltan tutor had advised her against indulging, given the effect it had on her. Vash had already come to that conclusion for herself.
Vashkilu could be coy when the situation called for it, but she had too many questions. The twins had made it quite clear they didn’t see her as a slave nor did they want her acting like one. They were strange, but she liked them - a lot. “Elias said you brought him here for me,” she nodded toward the door he had disappeared through. “The last thing I remember is over a week ago. Will you tell me what happened?”
