Oneshe had been sniffing around the outpost, literally and metaphorically, looking for his next gig. His last employer had shorted him about 3 bars of latinum, and their subsequent ‘disagreement’ meant he was also without a ride.He was keeping his ears perked and eyes peeled for his next opportunity. This time hoping to score something more long term. To say there were ‘rumors’ of pirates around the area was an understatement. It seemed only a matter of time before he bumped in a crew with a few vacancies.

Luckily this outpost wasn’t Star Fleet run. It was independent. It was respectable, but it had an iffy seedy side too. It was a couple months past her birthday. Not that it was a big deal. She had been an adult by Orion standards for a few years. No one had remembered, but honestly she’d forgotten too. Loosing Sisnil, their deal gone side ways, getting hurt, avoiding the Korda, who had time to celebrate?
So she was walking the merchant district. She was going to buy herself something indulgent. She never spent her earnings, so she had a bit she could indulge in and not touch her savings. Of course she only had so much time before the fact she was Orion drew trouble.
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
Noril turned up beside her. Both brothers could sneak around, but Sisnil was better at the direct approach. Noril was the slippery one. “Looking for a birthday gift?” He asked. Her Orion side made it easy for him to read her, even if her Deltan side made it more difficult than other Orions. “I’m truly sorry it was forgotten, Vash. The timing of my brother’s loss was… ill timed.”
~ N, Captain
Oneshe could sense Vashkilu’s presence as she got nearer. The signature scent of a young Orion woman, though it didn’t have the same effect on him as it did other species. He eventually came up not far off from the pair, catching the tale end of their conversation. His ears perking up to focus in on what they were saying.

Vash felt him coming, but it was still surprising how quickly he appeared. She shrugged, “I’m not worried about it. It’s just another day.” She shook her head and set a hand on his arm. “Any time would be ill timed. We’ll get him back though.” With the contact Vash was able to communicate with Noril telepathically, We’re being watched. She smiled and laughed lightly. “I have a little saved up, after my dues. I’ve already bought for the kitchen, so I thought I might indulge a bit.”
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
Oh, extra funds it seemed? Exactly what Oneshe wanted to hear. He approached them openly, arms stretched in a welcoming gesture as if he had already known them,
“Greetings! And how are you two on this fine day, hmm? Isn’t this place you fascinating, nowhere else in this system can you find such a collection of, em…” he leaned in slightly and whispered, “Well, frankly, mostly useless trinkets. Pretty for certain, but not really quiet worth what they are charging.”
Uukemel, The Muscle
Vashkilu took a step back and behind Noril, dropping her gaze. As far as the Syndicate was concerned she belonged to Sisnil, and in his absence to Noril. This man was an unknown, and given their recent encounter, she deferred to playing the part. He felt jovial enough, but he was seeking something. She could tell that, but it would take Noril’s telepathy to determine if he was benign or not.
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
Noril was immediately assessing him as a threat, both sizing him up visually and sensing his thoughts and emotions actively. Noril was a strong telepath with training. Little escaped him. He had an arm partially in front of Vash as I’d to protect her as she stepped behind him. “Perhaps not worth what they charge, but their value is in their sentiment. Memories are important.” Noril said.
~ N, Captain
Vash’s hand rested quietly on the small of his back. Stop reading my mind. I was totally going to say that. She shouldn’t distract him, but wasn’t feeling subdued that day.
As the dynamic between the two became clear, he shift attention to Noril. The fact he was a Betazoid was of no concern to him. Mentally, he was focused on building rapport, laying the groundwork for a sales pitch for his services.
“Memories, sentiments, they have value, certainly. Then I suppose what you intend to acquire should have some relevance to what accomplishment you wish to remember. For example,”
He displayed his lower arm, and pointed to a bronze brace clamped around it. It had a simple pattern engraved into it as well as a phrase written in Ekarian, which translated to:
‘For I am Both Strength and Will’.
“I purchased this, and engraved it myself, after I won a contest of strength on Lanceron IV. It is in the style of the hunting bands worn by pre-contact Ekar. Only the strongest of my people earned such bands.”
He stood tall while speaking about it, pointing up his ears and puffing out his spines. It didn’t take a telepath to detect the amount of pride he had in his physical abilities. Undoubtedly he was strong for an Ekarian. Though at 119 cm it was hard to determine if he was merely strong for his size or truly exceptional. One would have to see it in action.
Uukemel
Vash could feel the pride he had in the accomplishment. What she couldn’t tell was if there was a threat behind the words. Keeping her head lowered, she darted her eyes about to see if there were any surprises waiting for them. She should have brough Eli or Nathan with her. That way they would have back-up. Vash was Orion, which meant, even in her small stature, she was stronger than most humanoids, but strength wasn’t everything.
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
“You know, speaking of valuables… perhaps you have something in your possession that could use some extra protection?”
The nostrils on his forehead flared. The pheromones from this particular Orion were… unusually strong. Being so close, it became obvious. He wasn’t usually affected by the women like this.
“I don’t know what, but…”
He flattened his ears forward and shook his head, trying to clear it.
Come on, focus. You’re stuck here until you find another job, remember?
“What I mean is, I am a professional when it comes to protecting valuable items and people. And I happen to be available to offer my services at this time. I’m not asking much, either. It is a very reasonable rate. I’m even open to trading my services at the moment. Like for—“
His eyes once again drifted toward the woman. Like being drawn into a whirlpool. His thoughts and feelings, she became the center of it all. It wasn’t a romantic attraction, or lustful. Maybe because of her age, or lack of fur or spines of any kind. He didn’t see a woman, he saw a girl, a child. Someone who needed protection. His protection.
Vash was highly amused. She might look like she needed protection, but she was more than capable. Though most of the time she played a damsel, it didn’t mean she was one.
Focus, Oneshe, focus.
“Passage away from this outpost, as an example.”
Uukemel, The Muscle
“Vash is under my protection,” Noril said possessively. “You join my crew, you protect all of us, the same.” He seemed unphased by anything else, the Zoi brothers weren’t ones to be wooed by titles or bands or other nonsense. “And you ought to know, we are under the control of the Syndicate. The kinds of jobs we do… Well, we don’t always get to choose.”
~ N, Captain
She shouldn’t feel anything about the way was quick to put his protection on her. Everyone on the ship watched out for and protected her. Each in their own way. More like siblings mostly, but it was Noril she wanted more with. She would have to learn to be content with reality, though sometimes wishful thinking made her think there was more in his voice.
She hated it, but with Sisnil being gone, they were down man power. An extra hand for a ride wasn’t a bad idea. It was Noril’s call though. Do you want me to call Nathan down to check him out?
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
His ears pricked up at the term ‘crew’. And mention of the Syndicate kept his attention.
“Of course, whatever you say boss,” Oneshe responded, trying appear nonchalant,
“Whatever you need me for, I can handle it. Like I said, I’m a professional.”
He stopped for a moment, ears pulled back slightly. I all his excitement and… whatever was up with this woman, he may have been a bit too trusting. After all, he was a Betazoid, a telepath. This man could just be telling him what he wanted to hear.
“But I would like to be able to meet your crew and see the ship before I agree to anything.”
Uukemel, The Muscle
“Your concerns show good caution,” Noril said. “I am a telepath, and I’ve had top of the line training in using it to its fullest potential. However, I have no interest in manipulating you into joining my crew. I only want people who want to be here, who will swear loyalty and mean it.”
No, I think he’s alright. Nathan can test his skills on board. He answered Vash. “You want to see the ship? That’s fine. Don’t mind if I escort you, though.”
~ N, Captain
Vash tried not to sigh. She wasn’t done with her little impromptu shopping trip. They’d entered into the ruse now though, so she’d just have to finish it at another time. It wasn’t like she really needed anything.
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
“Not at all,” Oneshe confirmed, cautiously optimistic,
“Lead the way, boss.”
Uukemel, The Muscle
As they turned and walked toward a place to transport, Vash pulled out her comm and sent a quick text based message to the ship for Nathan and Eli. ||Cap’ approached for a job. Set up? Meet in transporter room.||
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
Eli stood up from his bed, nap time was over aparently. Yawning he streched and tossed his shirt back on. “On my way” was all he said, slinging his belt and his weapons on he moved to to the transporter room and waited
Elias “Eli” Trenor
MedicNathan was there already when Eli arrived, a worn phaser on his hip. He leaned on the transporter control console, waiting to see who this new arrival shaped up to be. He was dressed in parts of his old Starfleet uniform today - the blue-grey base layer shirt and his jacket with command red stripes around the cuffs, hanging open to allow better cooling. His pants were grey with a plethora of pockets, the type designed to allow a multitude of tools or weapons to be stashed on one’s person. He rose a hand in greeting as the medic joined him in the small room.
Nathan Murray
First Mate / WeaponsEli held out his hand, his eyes did not show it, but he was not a fan of his atire though perhaps there was enough disrepect in wearing it that way that Eli passed if off. “Fresh meet for the grinder, I’m sure Vash picked out a winner and drug him back here like a love sick puppy dog, any idea on who she found?”
Elias “Eli” Trenor
Medic[OOC: Assuming we get beamed up with little incident, I’m gonna write this part but feel free to add before this as necessary.]
IC:Oneshe materialized with the others. At almost 120 cm he was noticeably taller and larger than your average Ekarian. He was immediately alert to the others in the room. Ears pushed forward and nostrils flared, taking in the surrounding area. The spines on his back puffed out as a defensive display.
Two more were in the room, both human males. Both armed. Unsurprising but something to be aware of. This could still be a trap, but he was still confident in his ability to prove he was worth keeping around. Even if, especially if, that involved having to survive his first encounter with the rest of the crew.
He waited for the Captain, or another member of the crew, to make the first move.

OOC: 120cm so just under 4 feet? Eli is 193cm and full of muscle
IC:
Eli was leaning calmly on the door frame, his head near the top. He sat staring at the transporter pad anticipating the new arivals. When the beam settled his eyes were in the wrong place, as they dropped down to where the creature was, he tried to not laugh at the fact he was surounded by small people. He waited for Vash to do her introductions.Elias “Eli” Trenor
MedicVash was standing behind Noril and the neecomer. Gave down, posture subservient. She was playing the slave girl role for the moment. She glanced up at Nathan and Eli and winked at both of them behind Oneshe’s back.
The newcomer wasn’t her find. He found and approached them. This was all Noril.
Well, yes she had that effect on people, but she didn’t do it on purpose this time.
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
“Eli!” Noril said. “This is… Uukemel- can I just call you Kemel? Sounds cooler, I think. Anyway, that’s Eli, he’s our medic. Only medical help on board, so make nice with him.”
~ N, Captain
Oneshe understood the custom of shortened names used by many cultures. In this case it did reduce the names meaning to nonsense, but it didn’t both him much. As it is not like they would understand its meaning anyway.
“Hmm, I will accept,” he acknowledged. He stepped off the transporter and moving in closer toward Eli. The man towered over him but Oneshe didn’t seem intimidated. He tilted his snout upward, squinting slightly, and held out an arm as an offer for… maybe a handshake?
“You are a medic? Good. Respectable.”
Uukemel, The Muscle
Eli held out his hand, “Nice to meet you, you should get me details on your anatomy as soon as you can so I can stock up on supplies we might need.” he looked over at vash, “I can whip up a gutter wash mixture of meds better than most but It’s better if I have the realy thing.”
Elias “Eli” Trenor
Medic
“At least you seem prepared…” Oneshe responded with a hint of a smile. Reaching into the interior pocket of his vest he pulled out a data rod.
“This should be sufficient… ‘Anatomy and Strengths of Ekar’, Dr. ‘Eelesh Veshuun, a medical classic so I’m told but I’ve never been much into that sort of thing.”
Vash batted her lashes at Eli. Whatever was he implying?
Eli looked over at vash, “come see me when you get a minute” he said to her, through all the mess he had forgotten something very special.
Elias “Eli” Trenor
MedicShe nodded softly. “Yes, Sir.” It felt weird to them all when she took that submissive state, but until they got to know someone it really was a great way to hide her rather lethal abilities. She wasn’t seen as a threat and that made her a secret weapon if needed.
Vashkilu, Infiltrator
His ears perked almost straight up at the sound of her voice. Just odd that he wasn’t sure if he heard her speak before. It would be somewhat of a relief when she left, a little less distracting for sure. But her leaving did still make him uneasy. He couldn’t watch after her anymore,
“So, boss, I see you have the ship, you have the crew, if you have the room then looks like we have a deal.”
