Noril commed the ship. “Bring us up! Everyone plus two extras,” He said into the comm. A moment later, they were all beamed aboard the Albatross.

Once materialised, Noril hopped off the transporter pad. “Take Vash and the kid to the ship infirmary. Eli, treat Vash first. Nathan, take the bridge, keep an eye on everything Rook, take the helm, get this ship out of here.” He looked at TJ, “You.... Do something useful… Get on the bridge, run weapons.” And finally the kid, “Go with Eli to the infirmary. Whatever you do, just don’t… Touch. Anything.”

Eli Scooped Vash up gently and was already turning to take her to sickbay when the order was given, “Aye” was all he shouted back. Her combined Orion and Deltan physiology was normally a great asset, as it turns out it had the side effect of feeling pain at a level which no normal human could manage all while projecting it to those around her. Eli winched as he made contact with her, it was like someone was taking a hot iron to his entire body, he was not stranger to pain however the Cardasian’s had seen to that. His mind went numb focusing only on what had to be done, both for her sake and his. “Hang in there little one, I got you.” he said softly.

~ N, Captain

Getting the ship out of there he could do.

He’d avoided the majority of whatever had happened, instead waiting for the crew to return. He kept the ship running in the background, ready for a quick getaway should it be needed. His previous Star Fleet experience as an engineer meant he knew his way around an engineering station even though his speciality these days was more flying ships rather than keeping them running.

He’d been manging the transporter room when he heard the Captain give the instructions to bring everyone up. He’d hardly been listening to the comms so he’d missed anything else that was said, it was lucky that he’d even caught the orders to beam everyone back to the Albatross. His fingers danced over the controls and within just a few moments, everyone was safely being transferred from one place to another all through the science of transportation.

The team had materialised in one go, with Noril handing out orders the moment they materialised. He offered a cocky little salute and set off for the bridge and the helm station.

Rookie - Pilot

Nathan strode onto the bridge seconds behind the helmsman, calling out direction even as he walked to his seat. “Michael, lay in a course. Bearing 165-mark-28. Best possible speed, engage.” He glanced back to weapons. “You at tactical, keep things hot. Get a lock on any pursuers, wait for my confirmation to fire. Let’s fly.”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

Tactical wasn’t exactly TJ’s expertise. He was much more inclined to fixing thing than blowing things up. However, his safety require shooting. “target aquired. ready to fire.”

The ship’s proximity alarms went off, and the ship rocked as it was hit with phaser fire. The engineering display showed their port side thrusters had been hit and were down to 70%. It was a disabling shot. Whoever had fired wanted them disabled but didn’t want to damage the ship. The comms came on with a hail.

He let out a few choice words as the ship rocked.

“I can lay in whatever course you want me to” he said, working the controls to try and keep the ship level. “I can’t do a lot if we’re dead though so can we please shoot back” he continued. Someone wanted to take their ship out and he wasn’t happy about it. The Albatross and it’s ragtag crew had become a little bit of a family to him after his actual family disowned him and he wasn’t ready to lose that.

[O]Crew of zhe Albatros, zhis is Captain Nedelyayev Slava of zhe Korda ship Donav. Under orders of Dimitiri Korda, ve are here zoo take you, dead or alive, along vith your cargo. Stand down. Zhough, I must admit, I vould prefer zoo take you dead.[C}

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

He let out a grin.

Stand down? They’d clearly never met him. “Hold on team, this is about to get real ropey real quickly” he spoke, throwing the ship forward at full impulse speed. His mind was working at full power, trying to think of what stupid manouver he could pull off to loose their followers.

Rookie - Pilot

“Return fire!” Nathan ordered, hanging onto the armrests. “You may fire at will, hit whatever you can.”
Nathan Murray
First Mate

TJ fired the phasers on the target. “Firing.”

The phasers hit the Korda ship. At this range it was impossible to miss, it lowered their shields, but no direct damage.

Noril returned to the bridge from the ship’s infirmary. “That the Korda?” He frowned, they’d lost their engineer lately. “What’s damaged?”

~ N, Captain

TJ thought about speaking up. He was an engineer. If there was anyone here that could do that he could. “Whatever, it is I can fix it. Maybe make it better. I’m an engineer by trade.”

Rivers Eng

“Great, get to engineering, jkd’la,” it was an Orion word meaning pronto. “Nine decks down, deck 10. Go!” Noril said to TJ. He pointed to Nathan, “You, take over tactical.”

~ N, Captain

TJ didn’‘t understand the final word. But, he had no issue with going down to the engines. In fact, that’s where he would rather be. He left to see what he could do to at least give them a fighting chance to survive. Or more importantly for him to survive.

Eli placed her softly on the bio bed, trying to no cause her more sensation the needed. The bio bed screamed to life with alarms, her brain activity was like a lighting storm. Her heart rate screamed at him compelling him to do something. he started looking at the readings further, glancing back and fort as he found the right cocktail of drugs, a mixture of sedatives and a neural inhibiter. He prayed her body could take the initial jolt, as he injected here with the mixture. He placed his had on her head as he continued to watch the bio monitor for changes. “You can do it girly, time for a little nap, Eli has you now” he said softly

The comms buzzed again as the ship rocked again, this time to starboard side. [O]Zhou have chosen zoo fight.[C] There was a cackle followed by orders to fire before the comm closed.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Nathan nodded as weapons was handed to him and ran to the console. “Firing a spread of torpedoes, detonation set at 15 meters off their hull,” he reported. “Rook, now would be an excellent time to jump to warp!”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

“Bring up the shields!” Noril said, to Nathan, “Or there won’t be anything left to take to warp.” He glanced back as if at the Korda ship, “They won’t go for the kill, they’ll be disabling. They’ll want us alive. And we don’t want to be taken alive.”

~ N, Captain

“Shields are at full power, sir,” Nathan said, “the generators are being sluggish, though. I wouldn’t be surprised if they took some damage a few weeks ago at Imanan IV.” At this statement, the shields finally spun to life, the ship protesting as they did. “2 more torpedoes out!”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

The torpedoes detonated directly in front of the Korda ship, checking the forward movement of the other ship for half a second as the blast force hit the shield and hull. This was followed by the additional two Nathan had fired. These almost penetrated the forward shields. Sensors read the Korda’s forward shields were down to 30%. The modifications Nathan and their previous engineer had made to their torpedos seemed to be paying off.

The Korda returned fire, continuing their targeting of the thrusters. With the shields coming online, the phaser fire only rocked the ship. Sensors showed that the Korda were were powering their torpedo launchers.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Rook’s fingers danced over the control.

Every movement the Albatross made seemed intentional and precise and it’s pilot would have someone believe they were and that they weren’t him panicking at the controls trying to keep the ship in one piece. He wasn’t entirely sure on their next location, but he figured he’d just go somewhere that the Korda wasn’t and they could figure it out from there.

With one final move, the pilot pulled the lever to send the ship to warp and just hoped that the ship responded.

Rookie - Pilot

The ship took a moment to respond. For a moment, nothing happened. Then the warp core took its sweet time preparing before the ship entered warp and jetted off into space.

“I don’t care where we go, so long as it’s somewhere we can hide out and repair.” Noril said.

~ N, Captain

Torpedo exploded where the Albatros had been just a moment before. Jumping to warp from orbit was dangerous for a galaxy class, for a cargo ship like the Albatros it was Russian Roulette. This time the crew won the spin of the wheel.

The Albatros disappeared out of the system. With any luck they weren’t so damaged that they couldn’t find a way to lose any tail to their warp trail.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Rivers Eng.

“Come to bearing 34 - mark - 350,” Nathan instructed. “Make for the Alvus system. There’s a neutral drydock there - we should be able to repair at a decently low price.” He paused. “And Rook, don’t fly in a straight line. Try and shake any pursuers.”

Bump!

The spray indeed stung as the boy let out a gentle hiss before the analgesic effects dulled the pain so the doctor could do his work to clean and patch him up. He felt the tool putting pressure on his shoulder but there was no pain from the manipulation as Eli wrapped up. “Thanks sir” He said as he nodded at the new orders, heading towards the replicator and looking at the options before replicating a couple of pieces. He believed the good doctor when he said the pretty lady was safe so he took a little extra time to get a new outfit than just a shirt. He headed over towards a secluded area and changed into his new clean clothes, a pair of clean undergarments, a light grey shirt with sleeves down to mid bicep, and a pair of dark grey overalls with plenty of pockets for tools and such with the cuffs of the overalls just above his ankles. It had been a pre-programmed outfit for mechanics and he sized it for himself and it fit well. He took a moment before he tossed his old clothes into a pile and breathed a gentle sigh of relief. He hadn’t had a new outfit in years and if he had grabbed a straw hat too, he’d make a convincing space Tom Sawyer.

He took off towards the bridge, stopping half way to look at the diagram of the ship on the display before making his way up to find the man who’s jacket he had accidentally shot. He let out his breath and waved at him urgently, “The doctor said.... He said that Vash is stable and going to pull through just fine. Is that the pretty lady’s name? I forgot to ask…” He said as he looked around at the scene in front of him, “Where are we? Are we in space? This is so cool!” He said jumping up and down excitedly!

–Jaiturk, Messanger–

Noril sighed softly. He wasn’t much a children person. But the news that Vash was okay was immensely comforting to him. “Stop calling her pretty lady. It’s rude.” He said. He gestured to an empty station, “Go sit down and stay out of the way.”

~ N, Captain

Jai stopped bouncing and felt as if the air had been let out of his emotional ballon. He frowned a little and walked over to hop into the seat silently, kicking his feet back and forth idlily and crossing his arms while pouting. “It’s not rude if it’s true…” He muttered to himself as he spun in his seat to look at the console and see the flashing lights and more importantly, the readouts and buttons!

It looked to be an engineering console as Jai read through the figures and data being piped in from the engine room. There were lots of red lights and flashing warnings. “Um.... Mr Captain sir?” Jai called out “You’re um… Fusion thing isn’t working right I think....”

~Jaiturk, Annoyance~

“On it,” Nathan called before Noril had a chance to, walking over to stand over Jai’s shoulder and figure out what the actual problem was.

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

OOC: Cross posting the description from the engineering thread.

When the Korda’s weapons hit the ship, the primary fusion reactors were undamaged but the plasma manifold feeding the port thrusters was knocked out of alignment, leaking plasma in the space between the docking latches. Thankfully the ship’s systems are smart enough to cut flow through the damaged manifold, but until it’s repaired the old bird will have much poorer control.

Jai looked up at the man who was standing over his shoulder, clearly, he was excited that someone was paying attention to what he was talking about. As he studied it he pointed to something on the screen and said, “That’s the um.... thing that all the plasma goes through to the engines, right? It looks kinda like a big version of the plasma distributer thing that always used to break down deep in the mines. I’ve fixed loads of those!” He said hoping for some approval from the adult.

~Jaiturk, PIT~

“You’re right,” Nathan remarked. “Captain, if you don’t mind my absence?”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

He slumped back in his chair.

Whatever stupid stunt he’d pulled appeared to have worked. They were still alive and there were repairs being carried out whilst they weren’t being shot at. Honestly, Rook was quite impressed. He took the order not to fly in a straight line quite literally, programming the next warp of the ship to somewhere totally out of the way before shooting back on course in the hope they’d lose anyone following.

Rookie - Pilot

Jai rocked back and forth on his seat a little before he jumped up and looked at the man who had so recently talked to him, “So um… I think I can help fix it if you want? Can I? Please?” He asked, bouncing up and down on his toes as he looked hopeful, wanting to be the hero!

~Jaiturk, PIT~

Ugh, Noril wished Vash were on the bridge. “Nathan, you stay. TJ, the man from the bar… He is in engineering. And this kid…” Noril sighed a long sigh, “If you think you can help then go to engineering and do something useful.”

~ N, Captain

“Aye, sir,” Nathan replied, staying put. “Orders?”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

Jai didn’t need a second word as he dashed off towards the engineering room, or wherever it was as he stopped again in front of the display panel showing the layout of the ship.

~Jaiturk, PIT~

The sudden warp away from orbit along with the explosion of the Korda’s torpedoes, gave the Albatross crew a bit of a head start. It didn’t take long for the Korda to find their warp trail and begin to follow.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

“Get us out of here. I don’t think they’ll give up that easily.” Noril said, frowning. “Head towards any area with heavy Syndicate presence, that should dissuade them.”

~ N, Captain

“Hopefully, that is. It’ll at least make them think before they shoot,” Nathan contributed.

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

As if realizing where they were heading, or just a decent tactician on their crew, the Korda appeared, firing a volley of photon torpedoes at the Albatross. Aimed to detonate directly in front of the forward hull to persuade them to stop. As well as phaser fire to their nacells.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

“Drop to warp 1, put us behind them,” Nathan said, readying another torpedo volley. “Then bearing 11-mark-19 and go to maximum warp. But keep our trail winding. Getting there faster’s no good if we’re dead.”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

“They want us alive,” Noril said, “Use that to our advantage.” He was deeply focused. “They’ll kill us if they must, but they don’t want to. They want something from us.”

The Korda held position behind them. There was an incoming transmission attempt from the Korda vessel.

~ N, Captain

“Standby warp, Mr. Rook,” Nathan ordered, slipping easily back into the Starfleet cadence that had defined his early life. “Transmission on screen.”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

Sara always laughed when Murray called her Mr. Rook. She got the nickname years ago, and it still amused her. “Always.” She watched the Korda ships, instinct and experience telling her how fast they were moving and where and when openings would be. Her fingers moved across the controls, adjusting on the fly as things progressed.

Ugh, that Starfleet persona just grinded his gears sometimes. Still, it was what made Nathan such a strong first mate.

A bald white man with a long, brown, well kept beard filled the screen. The ship had done jobs with him, dealt with him in the past. Then crossed him on Syndicate orders. This was the captain of this Korda vessel, Grekov Rodion Danilovich Korda. Known as Rodya, he was high ranking in the Korda family’s criminal business. He was part of the Korda extended family.

“Nathan, Noril, long time no see,” he said, speaking in a thick, Russian accent. “I must say, your ability to evade is unmatched. However, the Korda family has eyes everywhere. Your capture was bound to happen.” He leaned back in his chair, and smiled a joyless smile. “Surrender, and perhaps you will earn some leniency.”

~ N, Captain

“Hello, Rodya. Who says our capture has happened?”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

Sara’s hand dropped below her console, and she held four fingers then 2 up for Murray to see. They would have clear shots with phaser array 4 and time to fire 2 torpedoes as they passed.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

OOC: unfortunately Tejay (playing Rook) had to step down :( hence the Kelpie’s lovely portrayal.

Rodya’s eyes gleamed. “Your ship is damaged. A good shot and it will be fully disabled. Aim it just right and…” He mimicked an explosion. “Boom. No more Albatross. No more pesky independents and Syndicate meddlers. You see, my ship is faster than yours. Newer than yours. Stronger than yours. You cannot win.”

~ N, Captain

“Maybe not, but we don’t need to,” Nathan said. “I’m sure we can reach an agreement that suits us both.” He glanced over to meet Noril’s eye, a finger raised to indicate standby just below the field of view transmitted to the hostile ship.

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

“I haven’t come looking for a deal,” the russian man said. “I am here for revenge. No one crosses the Korda and does not suffer consequences.” With that, they fired a shot at the ship’s nacelles.

Noril gripped his seat and gave a sense of affirmation to Nathan, a telepathic trick he could do.

~ N, Captain

As sensors flared indictating the Korda were firing, Sara punched the Albatross into motion at full impulse. The extra cargo holds might get hit, but better than the engines.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

“Engage,” Nathan ordered, firing off a brief volley of phaser fire and 2 warheads directly aft of them.

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons
OOC: Eli is a pilot as well so he’s going to hop in here..

IC: “Holy hell” he said, “I just go you all patched up” he said sinking quickly into the co-pilot seat, his hands felt the control lightly as Sars started a roll matching and then aiding it. Quickly he started looking over the scanners for a place to lose their enemy. “They are right on us Captain” he noted as he and Sara started another action.

Elias “Eli” Trenor
Medic

The Korda ship maneuvered and took minor damage from the return fire. “I see you have made your choice.” Said the captain, and the Comms blipped off. Two torpedoes were fired at Albatross.

“Do what you have to.” Noril said. He turned to whoever was manning tactical (sorry) and said, “Can we win or do we run?”

~ N, Captain

Eli Jaw clenched as he manuvered and rolled the ship attempting to evade the incomming fire as best as possible.

“We can’t beat them outright,” Nathan reported. “Helm, engage at maximum warp. Try and throw them off.”

Nathan Murray
First Mate / Weapons

Eli hit a presaved location to give the computer some destination, it was a Ion Charged nebula about three lightyears away, “Got and Ion Storm, might give us some cover” he said and engaged to max warp.
