(snip)

I am not opposed, but I am very cautious and careful. One needs to be here, she motioned around the room indicating her father’s house, and then her neck. Even those you trust can betray you. She sounded disappointed, but there was an undercurrent of resolve. Whatever people did to her, wasn’t going to stop her. She glanced at her cards and set two face down. I’ll take two.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Noril took them and handed her two cards. Sisnil traded two cards, concealing a small grin. Understandable, Sisnil communicated to her. You will learn to trust us in time. We are not the scheming imbeciles your father employs.

~ N, Captain

That is a matter of cultural perspective. You have not arrived at our best. She shrugged, it was a matter for her father to deal with. At one time Vash would have fought to correct it for him, done it without his permission, but he had no plan to treat her the way she wanted. She would always be less, even though her father loved her deeply. And if you are not scheming you would not have survived long in the Syndicate. She looked at her two cards and then at Noril. Would he take any or would play the hand he had?

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Noril waved his hand, indicating he was keeping what he had. Let’s just say our abilities afford us certain allowances. He said to her.

~ N, Captain

She grinned and they could feel her laughter. In other words, you are very good at using your skills in your scheming. She tipped her head to the side studying Noril and then Sisnil in turn. Perhaps that is not the right word, but I do mean it as a compliment.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Both the brothers smiled slyly. I meant our technical abilities as much as our telepathic ones. Noril amended his statement. Show your hand.

~ N, Captain

Good, they had more than just their telepathy. She liked the pride in them. She laid her cards down. A single pair of fours.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Noril set down a hand of a single pair of twos and Sisnil set down a hand of.... absolute junk. Both wore a sly, playful grin.

~ N, Captain

Vash eyed them quite shrewdly. They were stacking the cards. She was certainly flattered. The question was what were they playing to win? Her wager or their own? What are we playing to? She scooped the cards and handed the deck to Sisnil.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

What was the plan? To keep her guessing. It was most amusing to them. Till you decide to quit, I suppose Sisnil said. There was no small amount of amusement behind the words.

~ N, Captain

Vash shifted to fully face Sisnil. She met his gaze directly. A sense of pride and stubbornness filled her, and playful challenge. I never quit.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

There was a joyful, playful look on his face and in his eyes. He looked charming like that. Then we will be here for a while, no? Or do you just want to kiss my brother again than badly?

~ N, Captain

Eyes flaring slightly, Vash grinned. Not just your brother. I get to kiss you too. What he said was true, she wouldn’t deny it. In that case, though, I could stop now. I’ve won twice in a row. She tapped the deck in front of him, But rewards are so much better when you have to work for it.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Me? I can feel your attraction Vash. You like what we look like, but it’s my brother you have real feelings for. Don’t worry, I’m not offended. I get plenty enough casual action, Sisnil teased, much to the embarrassment of his brother. Want us to make you work for it? He grinned, We can do that.

~ N, Captain

Vash looked over at Noril. Real feelings? Weren’t all feelings real? She knew what Sisnil meant though. No need to be offended. I like you both, She had a wicked streak and was flirtatious. She leaned back sensually so she could see them both, There is enough of me for both of you.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Sisnil grinned and smiled. “Oh there is, is there? I don’t know, Vash. I don’t like to share.”

~ N, Captain

Vash looked between them and shook her head, I doubt there is very little you two do not share. But that is something for you two to work out. What is it the humans say? Sharing is caring.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Well, if you like to sample me that badly, Sisnil said, turning it around as if he were the one being ‘tried’, Then go ahead.

~ N, Captain

If Sisnil thought he would call her bluff, he was mistaken. Vash stood and walked over to him and sat down next to him. She set her hand in his, a connection flaring. There was no push or influence, but an offer and a watchfulness. She was curious, but she didn’t want to hurt Noril either. Sisnil was right, she did like him in a romantic way. She did like Sisnil as well, but there wasn’t that same spark of chemistry. There might be eventually but there wasn’t yet.

She watched his eyes for a moment waiting for consent and then she kissed him. It wasn’t like Noril, where there was a slow buildup and infinite gentleness. With Sisnil, she was bolder, but still the epitome of feminine. She requested what she wanted in the way she kissed him, offering him what he wanted in turn but not demanding.
