Vash was somewhere between out cold and semi conscious. It would be a blessing if she were completely unconscious, but the pain was too intense to let her mind slip into oblivion. Being transferred from Noril to Eli caused immense pain, and even in her state her body arched and she screamed in pain. Those around her were suddenly hit with a wave of nausea as her Deltan gifts projected her agony outward.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

They had beamed aboard the ship and Jai felt the familiar cold metal of bulkheads beneath his feet as he stepped forward and nodded at the Captain’s orders not to touch anything. It was a design he wasn’t familiar with and he uttered, “Sha’k’la’den” under his breath. (The phrase being a Low Orion swear used primarily by children meaning ‘damn’ or to be ever so gently more polite, ‘wow’. Keep in mind there isn’t a precise translation available and the phrase has far more meaning and connotation behind the simple English we see here) He had uttered the phrase when he saw the panels, valves, buttons, and things he hadn’t seen on the slaver ships. So many little things to play with and touch….

It was often like that onboard slaver vessels, the crew compartments and the slave compartments kept separate, and the slave sections usually devoid of any interactive panels or equipment, lest the slaves get any bright ideas.

He heard the pretty lady scream out before feeling an urge to throw up, to the point of clutching his stomach and heaving a couple times before recovering, managing to keep his meager lunch inside of himself for the time being.

—Jai, passenger—

Noril gave Vash to Eli. “Numb her senses. The pain is too much.” For the Betazoid, it was difficult to focus. Her deltan gifts aside, his empathy was strong and her pain was felt by him. He glanced at Jai, the kid’s ideas obvious in his head, “I meant it, don’t go touching things.”

~ N, Captain

Eli Scooped Vash up gently and was already turning to take her to sickbay when the order was given, “Aye” was all he shouted back. Her combined Orion and Deltan physiology was normally a great asset, as it turns out it had the side effect of feeling pain at a level which no normal human could manage all while projecting it to those around her. Eli winched as he made contact with her, it was like someone was taking a hot iron to his entire body, he was not stranger to pain however the Cardasian’s had seen to that. His mind went numb focusing only on what had to be done, both for her sake and his. “Hang in there little one, I got you.” he said softly.

He crossed his arms and pouted as he looked up at the captain, “I wasn’t gonna…” he said as he walked away from the bossy man, muttering “Gleb’nar” under his breath in relation to the captain, another phrase from his homeworld roughly translating to bossy-pants’. He didn’t know if the captain had heard him but he paced around a small area waiting to be seen by the doctor. He knew well that the pretty lady came first, his shoulder ached but he was ok.

Despite the man treating him like a little kid and insisting that he don’t touch anything, he was grateful for the rescue and wanted to stick with these folks as long as he could, their lives must be SOOOO exciting if this is what they get into. Better than fixing replicators for low level mob wannabes on backwater colonies.

—Jai, Pirate Hopeful—

Eli placed her softly on the bio bed, trying to no cause her more sensation the needed. The bio bed screamed to life with alarms, her brain activity was like a lighting storm. Her heart rate screamed at him compelling him to do something. he started looking at the readings further, glancing back and fort as he found the right cocktail of drugs, a mixture of sedatives and a neural inhibiter. He prayed her body could take the initial jolt, as he injected here with the mixture. He placed his had on her head as he continued to watch the bio monitor for changes. “You can do it girly, time for a little nap, Eli has you now” he said softly

Fire and pain and agony filled her mind and screamed outward. She was aware of Noril, and then another touch. Also familiar. Eli even though her mind was too gone to consciously recognize him, but instinct knew she was safe.

The sedative hit and she was suddenly in oblivion. The inhibitor took a handful of seconds longer. Eli knew when it started working because her pain he was forced to feel began to fade rapidly. Her vitals were all over, but they began to level out even if they weren’t great.

Her entire upper back and the back of her right knee was covered in second, almost third, degree burns.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Eli’s tension and pain was subsiding so he knew the cocktail was working, he let a small sigh as the numbers started to stabilize.=/\= “Sir, Vash is stabilizing” =/\= was all he said. Noril would know that her mind had stopped screaming. That's it, my dear take a nice nap he thought as gave her head a slow stroke, I got ya` he thought. Looking her over the burns were bad and what little clothing she was wearing was blended with the burnt flesh, he was confident he could make it better, but even with a dermal regenerator it was going to take a while, and it would take some time to get all the cloth removed. Doing it with out scaring was the real trick, even with the tools he had debridement was a long process.

Jai watched as the good doctor took the pretty lady and laid her down, and scampered over, pushing up on his toes to look over her on the bio bed. She wasn’t moving, he wanted to reach out and touch her but backed up a little, flatting his stance and backing into the wall to get out of the way. As the doctor injected something he felt something go away, he wasn’t sure and he wouldn’t know that the pain and distress leaving him was a sign of unconsciousness and analgesia rather than something worse. She was limp, unnaturally so, and the boy wasn’t old enough or knowledgeable enough to have any clue. “is.... is she dead?” Jai said as he felt a tear or two rising to his eyes as he walked slowly over, careful steps as he pushed up again on his toes to look at her, unsure if she was breathing or not as he reached out to touch her arm. It was cold as he recoiled and pulled his hand back and felt a tightness in his chest.

For a moment Eli saw his family being ripped apart by Cardassian slavers, they were not so kind as to use Excruciators like there interrogation teams, they used crude weapons the tore the flesh of the backs of the disobedient. He stood there as a 15 years in horror at the body count in the disposal pit as he laid his uncle to rest in a mass grave.

His mind surfaced a split second later, looking at the young boy his eyes filled with compassion as he moved to the other side of the table.

The boy had seen death, heck, he’d used someone’s intestines once to fix a machine long enough to keep the shielding up before someone could be back with the right part. Sure the person was already dead, and he didn’t know them, but the pretty lady? He’d tried to shoot thugs for her, he’d been shot trying to help her, and he just watched her die? His breath quickened as he backed up again and sat down, hugging his knees and staring up at her.

–Jaiturk, Scared Kid–

The six foot three inch mass of muscle kneeled down next to the lad, placing one of his hands lightly on the boys shoulder and another in the center of his chest as he tried to make eye contact with him. “She’ll be ok son, it’s ok” he assured him “I’ll take good care of her I promise, But I need your help. ” He said, his face getting a little more serious. “Everyone else if fighting and I need someone who can follow instructions help me.” he said, his look turning more serious. “Can you do that son, can you help me?”

Elias “Eli” Trenor

Looking up at the man who kneeled down, Jaiturk let out a gentle sigh of relief as he felt the man’s strong hands on his shoulder and chest. “She’ll really be ok?” The boy asked as he wiped his left eye a little, “You sure?” He asked almost in disbelief as his previous experience with medics was that they do as little as possible rather than go out of their way to save people, after all, slaves are disposable right?

He smiled “I’m sure, she is .” he paused “Very important to me.” he finally let out.

He heard the words and his eyes grew wide. He needed his help? No way.... “Of course! I can do that! So.... what do I do?” Jai said bouncing up to his feet where he shifted from side to side a little nervously, “I’ve never done any medical stuff before. Like I know how to stop a cut from bleeding. You wrap it reeeeeeeaaaaaaly tight!” He said, hoping the man would be proud of his knowledge, “Is… Is she bleeding?” He asked, not wanting to look at her wounds too deeply.

–Jaiturk, Medic in Training–
Eli smiled as he stood up, “That is correct for an open wound that is bleeding, but for this it’s a little different” He noted moving of to the sonic cleanser, “Ok hands, in” he said to the boy. “What’s your name son?” he asked as the cleanser freed his hands of bacteria and replicated a pair of gloves on his hands. He pulled his hands out and grabbed a surgical mask out of the door and then moved back to the table. “When you are done, go to the third cabinet on the left and bring me one of the small gowns, please” he asked while grabbing a pair of scissors.

“My name is Jaiturk sir” He said, almost being drawn to respect the older man as he put his hands in, the built up grime and dirt being removed and a clear line of sanitation visible from his little wrists where his hands were now a bright clean green opposed to his arms and other exposed skin which was dull, muted, and dirty. He nodded and walked over to the third cabinet, opening it and looking for the small gowns, rifling through till he had one and brought it back, “Here you go sir.” He said, catching himself and wrinkling his nose at calling the man sir even if he didn’t know why he was doing it.

He was a little more than a paramedic, his training extend into trauma and field surgery so he had some skill beyond just general patch and go. His time spend fighting the dominion had given him more experience than he cared to admit. He pulled out a pair of scissors, but waited for the boy to bring him scissors.

He reached over to grab the bed but stopped himself, “keep your hands clean tr’ax’l’dn” he whispered to himself, an Orion phrase meaning ‘idiot’ or more accurately, ‘one who isn’t perceptive’. He knew that he had to keep his hands clean if he was going to help the pretty lady. “So um.... what now?” He asked as he pushed up on his toes, curling them as best as he could into the deck plating for stability as he tried to get taller to see what was going on.

–Jaiturk, Medic in Training–

Eli took mental note of the boys actions he was attentive and alert to what he was doing. “Go job keeping your hands clean” he noted not really looking up from marking the cloth that was not attached to skin. “Top drawer left cabinet there is a small rectangular box, it’s the only one in there, please bring it to me” he said he was going to need to get the young lad out of the room before he disrobed her.

Jai nodded happily as he heard the praise from the man, “Uh huh! I don’t want to get my hands dirty again!” He said with a smile as he looked over the pretty lady again before he stopped tip-toeing and landed back on his soles while the man gave further instructions. The smile slowly faded as he listened to where he needed to go and his mouth hung open ever so slightly as he repeated the instructions softly to himself, “Top left cabinet, little box, ok” he finished before nodding again and heading over towards the cabinet. He reached out again, but stopped himself. “Clean hands… gotta keep clean hands” he muttered as he tried to open the drawer with an elbow but given the angle he wasn’t successful. “Why don’t we have like, gloves or something…” He muttered as he looked around and spotted what he was looking for. He took a few steps over and using his left foot, gently kicked over a step stool to the cabinet where he was able to get a little height on the drawer, and tried again with his elbows. Unsuccessful once more, he stuck his tongue out of the side of his mouth for a moment as he thought. Maybe… no..... He considered his options and exhaled, using his pinky fingers on both hands to pull open the drawer and then used his elbows to grab clumsily at the box. It didn’t seem too heavy as he carried it back and fumbled on his way, the box slipping from his arms right as he approached Eli. The boy scrambled to catch it, ultimately though it landed on the ground with a thud. The boy quickly picked it up and looked up at the man, a little fear in his eye as he didn’t want to disappoint or in any way delay the pretty lady’s healing. “I’m sorry I… I tried not to use my hands cuz I didn’t want them dirty again but I dropped it and I really hope it isn’t broken whatever it is…” He said, holding it out to him, his head hung as he stared down at the deck plating.

–Jaiturk, Clumsy Kid–

Elie looked up from what he was doing as the case hit the ground, fortunately things did not spill out, “No trouble Son, I also forgot to tell you to leave your hands in the sterilizer for a few seconds after the cleaning it will replicate some gloves on you. Head over and go through it again, my fault” he noted spaying down the box to not get his own gloves dirty he opened the box to get out a pair of scissors to cut away here clothing where he could.

Carefully he placed the gown over the front of her, to give her some privacy, sadly there was no way to secure it so it was more of a blanket. Lifting her new found cover, he began cutting fabric away that had not become part of her flesh. It was not long before the rather revealing clothing was ready. Slowly he pulled what was left of the garment aside and tossed it to the waste, “All right, we are getting there” he whispered to Vash. “I have to keep you in a comma for now hun this is going to take a while.” While the boy was finishing up with his hands he pulled out the cortical inhibitor calibrated it and placed it on her temples.

Eli looked over and saw that the lad has now all set, “Ok don’t touch anything that’s not in this room, everything in her should be sterile” he noted, as he always kept it that way. “Over on that wall” he said pointing to the farthest cabinet, “Grab me two blankets” he ask.

As the boy went over, Eli smiled at his eagerness. Eli the tucked the gown under Vash arm to expose the burn tissue, and rolled her on to her side while the boy’s back was turned just incase the gown fell. He looked over her back the burns were very bad, but repairable he did not have the best equipment, he would have to take his time and do it one layer at a time to ensure that there would be no scars. His mind shot the scars on his own back, a painful reminder of what he had been through, something he never wanted to forget. “All right little lady” he said and began to cut away her lower garments, then waited for the blanket before removing them. He wanted everything out of the way so he did not miss a single burn.

Jaiturk nodded and breathed a small sigh of relief as he stuck his hands once more in the steralizer, allowing the cycle to complete and waiting a little as the gloves appeared around his small hands. He returned to Eli clutching the two blankets, doing his best to be as helpful as he could, his shoulder aching a little as the disruptor burn rubbed on his torn tank top causing the boy to wince a little before he let out a breath and handed the blankets over. “So um… what should I do now?” He asked, reaching up to rub his own shoulder but stopping himself, whispering “Just cuz the room is sterile doesn’t mean you are…” He said before looking back up at the man with a hopeful look.

–Jaiturk, Medic in Training–

Eli took the blankets wadded one into a longer tube like shape and propped Vash on it so she was at an angle it would make it easier for him to work. The other he draped over her from the lower parts of the burns to the up parts of her knee keeping here more private area’s covered. he then cut away the rest of her clothing, pulled it out from under the blanket and put it in the disposal. Eli was ashamed that he had forgotten the young boys shoulder, Vash had ben stable for a few minutes now he could have paused and taken a look “Why don’t you come over here and let me have a look at you” he said.

He ran the tricorder over the boys shoulder and took a look at the damage.

Jai’s shoulder was certainly aching as he let the tension drop a little and pulled his tattered tank top up and off of his thin frame before letting it land on the deck plating below, he turned his back to Eli where he’d get a clear picture of the burn damage on his shoulder. Visually his injury looked similar to Vash’s but smaller, less deep, and the scans would reveal muscular and nerve damage, as well as reduced blood flow to the area.

He turned his head back towards Eli, “I’m going to be ok, I’m more worried about her!” He said, wincing a little “Not the first time I’ve been shot or gotten into a fight!” He boasted to the good doctor even though it was an absolute lie, the most he’d done in a fight was throw a few punches, and sure he’d been injured as a slave, but it was always scrapes or burns from cutting lasers, a very different type of injury from the disruptor blast he took earlier.

–Jaiturk, Tough Kid–

Eli listened to him as he looked through the data, he pulled out a hypo spray and filled it with antiseptic and topical. “This will sting a little” he said as he released it on the wound.

“It admirable that you want to take the pain, but she is ok for now, it will help me if your in less pain” he said, it was not exactly a lie, he would be more efficient but truly Eli just did not want him to be in pain needlessly. He clean the wound of any debris and place a burn cream and bandage. “That will have to do for now, I’m on a clock with Vash, I’ll hit you with the dermal regenerator after I’m done. ” he said. Now do me a favor, replicate yourself a shirt and go tell the captain that Vash is stable and will pull through just fine. “

Eli did not wait for him to respond but turned and began working on her lower back slowly working on the burn from the wound, he took his time ensuring not to leave any scare tissue behind. “Well dear, ” he said, “This is a real pickle of a wound, but old Eli will get you patched up and as good as new, you’ll see ” he said. She unconscientiously shifted, maybe a dream, or something. “Hey now, I don’t want no fuss from you little one, now hold steady for me” he said with a slight chuckle. Just like her to find a way to give him grief while she was in a coma.

The spray indeed stung as the boy let out a gentle hiss before the analgesic effects dulled the pain so the doctor could do his work to clean and patch him up. He felt the tool putting pressure on his shoulder but there was no pain from the manipulation as Eli wrapped up. “Thanks sir” He said as he nodded at the new orders, heading towards the replicator and looking at the options before replicating a couple of pieces. He believed the good doctor when he said the pretty lady was safe so he took a little extra time to get a new outfit than just a shirt. He headed over towards a secluded area and changed into his new clean clothes, a pair of clean undergarments, a light grey shirt with sleeves down to mid bicep, and a pair of dark grey overalls with plenty of pockets for tools and such with the cuffs of the overalls just above his ankles. It had been a pre-programmed outfit for mechanics and he sized it for himself and it fit well. He took a moment before he tossed his old clothes into a pile and breathed a gentle sigh of relief. He hadn’t had a new outfit in years and if he had grabbed a straw hat too, he’d make a convincing space Tom Sawyer.

He took off towards the bridge, stopping half way to look at the diagram of the ship on the display before making his way up to find the man who’s jacket he had accidentally shot. He let out his breath and waved at him urgently, “The doctor said.... He said that Vash is stable and going to pull through just fine. Is that the pretty lady’s name? I forgot to ask…” He said as he looked around at the scene in front of him, “Where are we? Are we in space? This is so cool!” He said jumping up and down excitedly!

–Jaiturk, Messanger–

Eli looked over as the boy left and shook his head, interesting choice he thought. After he had left the room, Eli lifted the blanked and did a physical search of her body for anything the scan’s may have missed. Their scanner was old and sometime finer details could not be seen as clearly. That and old habits died hard, something inside from his war days left a distrust for technology. It seemed to do more harm than good sometimes. Satisfied that everything else was ok he covered her back up and continued to work on her delicate skin.

Eli came back from a short break and sat back down next to Vash, his had slowly traced ther back feeling for any inperfections in the skin that his eyes could not see, after checking her back sides and arms he was satisfied that the work was complete. He ran one last scan to ensure no damage remained. =/\= “Captain, She’s ready, you want to be here?” =/\= He asked before waking her up. There would be some ghost pain for a few seconds which to her would feel like an eternity. “Sorrry about this kid” he said

Noril arrived in the small infirmary and sat next to Vash, taking her hand. “Go ahead.”

~ N, Captain

Eli gave him a nod, “She’s in great shape, vitals are strong, but” he said with a small pause. “There is going to be a risidule pain signal that her brain is going to recal, but it wont last more than a second, still enough for us to feel it.” He noted. Once he was sure Noril was ready he started to wake her up. “Time to wake up little one” he said.

Elias “Eli” Trenor

Fire ripped across her skin, muscles spasmed and then gave out as flesh burned, even the air hurt. It rocked across the small medical bay, her body arching in pain as it did. Then she was numb. Golden tears of pain slipped from her eyes. Noril. Noril would get Eli. Eli would help her.

Time to wake up? “Eli?” She was aware of being on her stomach and she was completely unclothed under a blanket. “Noril?” She thought she felt them both, but everything was muted. It was hard to sense them. Her body felt sore, tender, raw. She must have been really hurt, Eli gave her a suppressant.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Eli was thankfully for Noril the pain he felt that brief moment was , manageable. “That a girl, open those eyes.!” He said to her, his voice soft and reassuring. Eli looked at here vitals and was satisfied that she was ok, he continued to ad the mild stimulate to wake her, slowly not wanting to shoot her into over drive.

She blinked her eyes, moaning at the soreness and stiffness in her back. Her head was turned toward Eli and she looked at him. For a moment, very much the child he often saw her as. She felt Noril’s hand around hers and squeezed it lethargic.

“Can’t you speak?”

Sh’drak’n’en’vra’xl. (betrayer of the highest order, one who deserves the worst fate) Sh’drak’n’en’vra’xl. (Treacherous vile swine!) Kla’d’n vra’xl en! (I’ll kill him!)” she hissed. “I hurt, Eli.” The intense pain was gone, but the soreness and residual would last a few days. It had always been that way.

Eli’s eyes filled with concern as he looked down at her, “Would you like something to take the edge off, I can give you the same cocktail as last time.” he noted. He really did not like seeing her this way she was, for lack of a better word scared. It was not a normal state for her. He had thought about a few jabs that might raise her spirit, be he had nothing.

She hated it, but it was necessary for the cree. They couldn’t function feeling her pain. The medicine would help her sleep too. “Please,” she glanced up at Eli as she said it.

Eli swiveled in his chair, set the dosage on the hypo and turned back “Sting comming, ” He said looking at noril and then adimistered the drug bracing himself for the momentary nerve pain as the thick liquid pushed into her system.

“Noril?” Did everyone get out? Were the Korda after them? Her father? She had to reach her father!

“Everyone is fine,” Noril said. “We have a few… extras on board.” He smiled a little, “Don’t worry. We’ll be fine.”

~ N, Captain

“Extras? Could they be spies? Were they with Thogel?” She tried to turn her head to look at Noril on her other side. Vash had to archer her back to lift her head and groaned at the stiffness. Vash dropped her head back down. “How bad, Eli?” She knew he had healed her. He wouldn’t let her wake up otherwise.

Vashkilu, Infiltrator

Noril shook his head. “Definitely not spies. And no, not with Thogel. Just caught up in the chaos.” He told her gently.

~ N, Captain

Eli waiteda momment for Noril to finish, “Third and second from your lower leg all the way to the middle of your back,” he looked at were with compassion knowing that scares were not something she would want. He placed his giant and on her head lighting pushing her back down. “Not to wory, not a trace after these steady hands were in play” he said purpously wiggling his and in a shaking motion. “Take a few minutes to rest please,” he said securing the surgical gown to keep her covered. He raised the bed back to give her some support then helped her sit up.
