The old but venerable Monolith’s were equipped with reliable but rudimentary guidance thrusters, equipment meant to do a job for a century without issue but the previous crews needed more than crude and reliable, so after rounds of tinkering to adjust the throughput through the deLaval nozzles to account for greater isentropic flow, the fusion reactor outputs were rigged through magnetic accelerators before the thrusters to increase power output by 22%, and general fusion reaction was increased across the ship by reducing emissions control circuitry and bypassing other safety equipment that ensured the ship would never pass an inspection, but that wasn’t the idea was it?

When the Korda’s weapons hit the ship, the primary fusion reactors were undamaged but the plasma manifold feeding the port thrusters was knocked out of alignment, leaking plasma in the space between the docking latches. Thankfully the ship’s systems are smart enough to cut flow through the damaged manifold, but until it’s repaired the old bird will have much poorer control.

TJ enter the engineer room of the ship. He looked over the ships systems. Seeing the state of the propulsion system; he was somewhat pleased. =/= At least the system was working the way it was suppose to do.=/=he thought. Now all TJ had to do was fix the leakhow

Everything comes with a price it would seem, as when TJ approached the docking latches to attempt access to fix to the manifold, the heat radiating from the main junction panels radiated danger and that it wouldn’t be as easy as he had expected. Perhaps those safety systems that had been bypassed in the pursuit of extra power output and thruster efficiency were coming back to bite the crew now.

Of course, the heat would increase to a point he couldn’t get close. He’d have to redirect the heat to somewhere else to get the latches back together. The question was how to do it
