The computer spun for what seemed like a long time before reporting back. “There have been several temperature and electromagnetic anomalies detected across all decks,” the sultry standard voice reported back.

“OK, your good at asking questions,” Ben said to Simon, “Take a map of the reported locations and see if anyone else has seen sightings to what you saw here.”

“I’m not one of your scivvies,” Simon protested.

“Do you want a story, or should I send you to sickbay and the counsellor to see if you’re insane?” Ben asked

“You both saw it to,” Simon replied.

“Saw what?” Ben asked his tone strongly suggesting that Simon had no choice in the matter.

The journalist muttered something incoherent as he reluctantly left.

The CO touched his comm badge. =/\= Senior staff report to the briefing room, =/\= he said…

Kate hid her amusement at the exchange between the two as the journalist left. “I’ll walk with you,” she commented to Gillespie. “Just in case.” She offered a slightly light-hearted wink as emphasis, not entirely sure whether she felt completely sane or aware of what was going on now.

Trent, SOO

“I’ve got to know Simon over the years and how to handle him,” Ben said as the pair walked, “He’ll do anything you want if he thinks he’s getting a story. He believes I’m not fit for command and that my inability will get him a big story. I honestly thought he’d have headed back to Earth to have covered the election, but I guess I’m not that lucky.”

When they entered the briefing room, a young crewman was placing a tray of mugs and a steaming pot of coffee on the table. He acknowledged the arrival of the officers before leaving silently…
