A moment later, in the chair across from Ben appeared an apparition. It was translucent but clearly a humanoid dressed in a Star Fleet operations uniform wearing the pips of a lieutenant.GM Wombat
Ben looked up from the his console and stopped his conversation. He was not sure what or whom he was actually seeing or what (if any) danger he was in.
“Can I help you, Lieutenant?” In his usual polite manner so as to not antagonise the ‘visitor’ but to also alert the person he was talking to that they were no longer alone…
-Ben
Kate stepped off the turbo lift just in time to hear Gillespie’s question toward a lieutenant. She followed his gaze to see who he was talking with…
Trent, SOO
“Lieutenant, keep looking to see what is wrong. We need something more then a feeling,” he said to Knight, keeping an eye on Kate as she walked over to the Captain’s office.

Mike was thinking “ when was the last time we had a full system reboot”
Seeing Trent on the otherside of the transparent door, Ben gave a gesture to indicate for her to enter.
From the angle of view, he could not see Jacobs in tow, but he knew he would be there…
-Ben
Kate had briefly forgotten about her new reporter friend as she stepped off the turbo lift and entered the space. The CO’s expression still confused her and she continued to study him, ignoring her babysitting duty for the moment.
Trent, SOO
The translucent Lieutenant gave no indication of having seen either Ben or Trent. After a moment he let out a laugh, silent and unheard before flickering out of existence once more, much like an old time movie reel reaching the end of the spool. A couple of quick flashes, a bright light and then he was gone.

In one smooth motion, Kate palmed the side of her uniform and snarled under her breath when her hand came away empty. She had no reason to carry a phaser in her current posting, certainly not on an otherwise ordinary day. Her eyes flashed immediately to the CO. “Did you see that?” she demanded, her concern overriding a desire to use proper etiquette with a senior officer.
Trent, SOO
“Yes,” said the journalist from behind her
“Good, so it’s not my eyes playing tricks on me,” Ben replied. he then turned his attention to his screen, “Apologies for the interruption, Admiral, can I get back to you later?”
“Ofcourse, Ben. And if that was Simon that I heard, tell him that the new journalist that is over here is far less irritating,” came the answer from the unseen console.
After the communication was closed, Ben closed the lid of his console down.
“Lieutenant, i know you’ve not been here long,” he said blanking the journalist, “But have you seen anything like that before?”
-Ben
Kate shook her head slowly, taking a moment to pause and give thanks that both the journalist and the CO had also seen what appeared to be an apparition. She pressed her lips together sardonically and then commented, “well, at least all three of us are going insane since we all saw it.”
=/\= Computer, scan the area for any anomalies. Compare the readings from two minutes ago to now and report on any differences. =/\=
Trent, SOO
The computer spun for what seemed like a long time before reporting back. “There have been several temperature and electromagnetic anomalies detected across all decks,” the sultry standard voice reported back.

“OK, your good at asking questions,” Ben said to Simon, “Take a map of the reported locations and see if anyone else has seen sightings to what you saw here.”
“I’m not one of your scivvies,” Simon protested.
“Do you want a story, or should I send you to sickbay and the counsellor to see if you’re insane?” Ben asked
“You both saw it to,” Simon replied.
“Saw what?” Ben asked his tone strongly suggesting that Simon had no choice in the matter.
The journalist muttered something incoherent as he reluctantly left.
The CO touched his comm badge. =/\= Senior staff report to the briefing room, =/\= he said…
