The hum of the core in Engineering was the only thing that could be heard. Lt. Knight was the only one there It was a hard few days but Engineering was clean finally. He looked at his list there was one Engineer that never clocks in and never checked in. he been waiting for him to come by but so far no go.

Lt. Mike Knight (CE)

“Scrubs up nice in here,” came the CO’s voice as he rounded a corner…

Mike looked at the CO as he entered Engineering. Mike had on Blue jeans and a black polo and a white coat. “Sorry for the way I am dressed sir I never really cared for Star fleet uniforms. Any way engineering looks good doesn’t it your Harley remember it. (By the way what power source are we using) and I have realigned the solar array to have more power”

Mike show a screen that showed basic power use and beside it basic for use with the solar array pulling in new power and everything looked awful lot better.

Lt. Mike Knight (CE)

“No apology needed,” Ben replied, “There’s is a time to be prim and propper and a time to be practical and comfortable. As long as safety isn’t compromised and you know when to wear your uniform, I’m not too fussy.”

Ben’s own uniform consisted of his red short-sleeved shirt and grey waistcoat.

“Impressive,” Ben said as he looked at the LCARS display wonderring how far he could push the power consumption for shields and weapons if he needed to “Do these figures include the additional power output from the extra fusion generators around deck 20 and 30?”

Mike smiled “yes but I was hoping you can get us a warp 8 Core. With a warp core we can play around with more power specially in case of emergencies I can do what I can with the solor array but it is just very old I can run Non-restricted areas with the solar array that should give the core some extra power for us to use” he said looking over the work Rotations for the next few weeks

“I’ll see what I can do,” Ben said, “You know how tight the shipyards can be about things like that, especially in the current economic situation. Would ‘pre-loved’ do?”

Mike thought for a bit “ I can always make a few warp field generator. That will give us a bit more power in a pinch” he said “ and we can upgrade the solar array. That way we can pull in and store the Extra power” mike was already drawing up plans to upgrade the array and plans for warp field generator. Mike mind has always moved faster then his mouths.

“Go for it. I’ll see what I can do about getting you a core,” Ben answered.

TJ came into engineering with the Captain’s data padd. He had tried his hand at decrypting it. He could do it if he kept at it. But, the CE had offered to help. So he would let him.

“Good morning,” Ben said politely recognising the Lieutenant that he had seen in his office.

Mike walked out of his office in khaki BDU and A black T-shirt and a white lab coat. “ I have a decoding matrix at terminal three for you“ He said to Ben as he entered.

Lt. Mike Knight (CE)

TJ nodded. “Let’s see what we have.” TJ was happy that he had the captain here. It made it less awkward. “Thought it would be easier. Building a starship is easier that this.”
