Ben’s first nights sleep on the Magellan had been uneasy. He never slept well the first night in a new place, but here it was something different. After an early rise and breakfast, Ben headed to the science labs to meet his CSO. He had met her briefly when he had arrived but, but she had then vanished into her own domain fairly quickly.

Looking at his crew roster, he saw why. There were insufficient Science personnel to man the department effectively. When he entered the lab he waited in the anteroom. It would both be inpolite and innapropriate to simply walk into the main lab without invitation, especially given he had no idea what the teams were working on.

Ben looked through the transparant wall to see if he could see his chief…

One of the few NEs on duty scattered into T’Sara’s office. “Cmdr. The new CO. He’s- he’s here.” T’Sara raised an eyebrow. “Be calm Ensign. There is no logical cause for fear of those with higher rank than yours.” She strode out from behind her desk and into the labs. “Greetings Captain. May I ask what business brings you down into the laboratories?”

“Actually, this visit is about what I can do for you. I see you’re short staffed for a start,” Ben said, “I can beg command for science officers, but before doing so, I really need to know what you’re working on, and what kind of specialists that you need.”

“It’s mostly astrophysics. We have a simulation beginning on a new method of warp speed travel. One NE who transferred with me, Ensign Wylde has a universal origin theory he’s working on. We are just getting started after unpacking equipment that was piled up in the back of the laboratory.”

IC: “So you could do with people with an understanding of Warp theory & temporal mechanics, but not so set in their ways they can’t see beyond the current limitations? Also some archeologists & culturalhistorians?”
