“Ofcourse, Lieutenant, Please come see me in my office later on once I’ve got settled in and brought up to speed on the immediate state of play,” Ben invited.

Harris, CoS

Briony waited a little impatiently as Harris interrupted their pleasantries with his requests. However she gave him his moment and then returned her attention to the new Captain. “The Trinidad is out currently on routine patrol and should be returning tomorrow. We are monitoring them with long range sensors. When you are done with your evaluations, please join me on the Bridge. I am sure you are eager to get started. I am working on a summary of the state of things here both with Star Fleet and Civilian life so as to make your transition as smooth as possible. I will see you soon.”

She nodded to the group gathered and left them to get their time in with their new Captain. She could not begrudge them their excitement. There was a part of her that was very sad to be leaving and yet another that was eager to see what was next for her.

Briony, Outgoing CO

“Thank you, Captain, I look forward to your insight,” he said politely as he watched her leave.

Before Ben could speak a journalist with a South African voice spoke up. “Captain Gillespie, How does…”

“This is not a press conference, Simon,” Ben interrupted firmly. He had an air of familiarity with the journalist, “The SNN has no interest in the personal feelings of a diplomat’s husband.”

Undeterred the journalist approached holding out a recording device. “I beg to differ,” the journalist replied.
“Then beg silently from out of my sight,” Ben barked at him.

“Shall we make our exit. I will get my evaluations out of the way and will meet you all in due course,” Ben said to his offficers as he too began leading towards the exit. Simon stepped between the group and the exit.

“These people trust you with their lives, they have a right to know that your personal feelings about being here will get in the way of your duty!” He held his hands towards the Captains chest in an attempt to prevent him from exiting.

“They do and my past is no secret,” Ben replied to the journalist not stopping even when he was right at the man.

Jacobs started slowly edging backwards, remaining in the way.

“There’s penty about your past that I know,” Simon said

“Then go publish or if you don’t get out of my way, Lieutenant Harris will be arranging your accomodation,” the CO replied.
