Braxton had put off the appointment for this appointment for days. However, this must be done this week without hearing from the XO. Braxton stepped off the turbolift and headed right for the office. Brax stopped abruptly and hit the chime button several times.

Harris, CoS

“Come.” Chandel said as the triple chime echoed through her room. Her eyebrow raised as she considered that it must be a fairly impatient person on the other side of her door. The door whooshed open to allow Harris entry and he would see the Counselor sitting behind her desk working with some data padds. To the side of her desk and down a few steps was a recessed sitting area furnished with an autumn colored couch and plush chairs. The carpet was in matching hue and plush as well. She had finally gotten around to getting a few pictures up and her crates unpacked and a few artistic pieces were placed around the room on small tables.

Counselor Chandel

Braxton had a begrudging look about him. “Counselor.” In a very quick fashion as he stood by her desk.

Harris, CoS

“At ease, Lieutenant and have a seat.” Chandel said hand upheld to indicate one of the seats in front of her desk. She had the sense that this officer was more of a stickler for protocol. “I have just come aboard recently, Lieutenant and am just acclimating myself to the base as I have always served on ships. Tell me how you have found the base to be different security wise then a ship? It must be infinitely more complicated.” She thought that getting him to discuss his work a bit might loosen him up as she had caught his tension as he entered.

Counselor Chandel

“Its a lot more things happening around here than anywhere. I prefer the busyness of the base.”

Harris

Chandel raised an eyebrow in curiosity, the COS hadn’t answered her question directly. “How long have you been here?” She asked hoping to get him to open up more.

Counselor Chandel

“Almost two years.” Braxton was still not ‘feeling’ this appointment. He then continued “before that I was on a Science vessel the USS Zhang where I worked my way up through the Security ranks and when this position opened up I was recommended to apply for this position at the Base.”

“Do you have a preference for either starship or starbase duty?” Chandel asked curiously. This had to be one of the most tightly controlled man she had ever met and she felt like she was chipping away at an ice block trying to get off a sizable chunk.
