It had taken a bit, but Aaron was finally able to find the quarters that the Quartermaster had assigned to him. That was definitely one of the pluses of being assigned to a Starbase, much larger quarters then you’d ever get on a ship. But now it was time to get the necessities out of the way.

Stepping into the infirmary Aaron looked around for a bit. “Excuse me,” he said stopping a medical officer, “I’m looking for Doctor Odraavi. Would you be able to point her out for me?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

The medical officer, an older man ,whose once raven black hair was tinged with the sparse flecks of grey indicating debatable wisdom, appeared to study his surroundings for several moments. Upon realizing that he hadn’t spoken, he sucked his breath in quickly, producing an> “Oh!” sound. “Of course, sir. She is right over there, just beyond where the Tellarite patient is being treated,” He motioned to a diminutive woman, almost hidden by her doctors, nurses and patients.

NE Doc

Aaron shuddered briefly at the mention of Tellarites. He had spent many hours working with them, and there was no question that they could do the work, they just never let you forget about it. It was one of those things where he would prefer to work with just about anyone else besides a Tellarite.

“Thank you,” Aaron said as he walked over towards where the medical staff had gathered, near the Tellarite. Maybe he could just wait and see what was going on.

LtCmdr Foley - XO

The Tellarite was being stubborn, making it difficult for doctors to assist him with the growing infection that’s appeared to be impacting his left arm. The worst of the struggle was over, as a nurse held the man back, allowing for the doctor to finally hit him with a hypospray. It wasn’t not uncommon to find such resistance among those who portrayed.. far more barbaric qualities.

Once it was over, Nisihe turned her obsidian gaze from the Tellarite man, having wished him well and better health, for the future. Noticing the officer, she found she did not recognize his face and moved towards him. “Hello, sir. What can I do for you, today?”

Odraavi
CMO

“Doctor Ordraavi I presume? I’m Commander Foley, the new XO. The Captain was busy and suggested I stop in to see you first while she finishes up some business. So well, here I am.” Aaron said as he moved towards the Doctor.

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“Yes, I am Doctor Nisihe Odraavi. It is nice to meet you,” She offered him a hand to shake, turning her chin up in order to meet the man’s gaze. “Of course, I’m assuming you need your physical? Do have a seat.” She motioned towards the biobed.

Odraavi
CMO

“It is nice to meet you as well Doctor,” Aaron said taking her hand. “And you are correct. Figured I’d get it out the way, and get to meet some of the crew at the same time.” Hoping up on the biobed Aaron turned back towards Odraavi. “So Doc, do you think I’ll live?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“I don’t know. You XOs seldom last long,” She winked in order to inform him of her completely facetious and joking nature. Glancing at the biobed’s vitals display, she turned in order to pull up his file and grab a medical tricorder.

Upon pulling up his file, and writing down what the vitals happened to reveal, she turned back to him, holding the small scanning device within her hand. Smiling, she asked> “Do you have any previous injury or illness that has been noted on the last six months?”

Odraavi
CMO

Aaron chuckled, “Well hopefully I can break that curse.

“Nothing that I’m aware of. We were on a deep space mission, but it was observing spacial anomalies. We didn’t have contact with any new species recently.”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“Well, that Certainly makes this a whole lot easier.” She chuckled, beginning the scan. It was a rather monotonous procedure, so she decided to keep conversation. “If you don’t mind me asking, how did that mission go?”

Odraavi
CMO

“That it does. Nothing wrong with a nice first contact every now and then, but I’ve always been partial to the anomalies. It’s what I spent my time studying back at the Academy. We actually discovered a relatively newly formed neutron star, so getting to actually study the near aftermath of a star going supernova was spectacular. It’s not often that you get that close to a star that had just gone supernova.

“Have you been here long Doctor?”

Lt. Cmdr. Foley - XO

Odraavi set down the tricorder to record the scan results.

The scans showed nothing particularly out of the ordinary. Aaron’s blood pressure was slightly high, but there was a note in his medical file that this was typical for him.

Odraavi recorded it, making certain that the high blood pressure went along with the note, prior to dismissing it.

“Dangerous, however it does sound like it was quite the sight.” She remarked, raising her head to note on his vitals, once more, before motioning with her hand to go get his weight and height, more accurately than what could be assumed, at the moment.

“It definitely is,” Aaron said standing up and following the Doctors directions. “If you ever have the chance it is definitely worth the trip to see one yourself.”

“Oh.. no. I do believe my place is best fit away from harmful radiation.” Odraavi chuckled, an amusing tone within her words. In that light, it was a bit too difficult to tell whether or not she was actually joking.

“Certainly, you were studying from afar, yes? While such anomalies are truly fascinating, the radiation could be potentially harmful to the human eye, if seen up close. Which, really, happens with any type of pulsar, main sequence star or simply any object that has an intense emission of bright, damaging light.” She assumed they hadn’t protective wear, if studying close. She assumed they kept their distance, as neutron stars were already incredibly dangerous to be in close proximity with, to begin with.

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

“Well you do have to get pretty close, otherwise you can’t get any good readings,” Aaron said while chuckling. Leave it up to the doctor to be more concerned about radiation exposure. “But the engineers assured us that they had set up the appropriate shielding to protect us. Not to mention, it was pretty easy to see that the shields were working. The way the ionizing radiation interacted with the shields, it was the ship was surrounded by the northern lights. It was definitely a sight to behold.”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“One wrong move in the construction of that shielding, and you would have all been toasted like sourdough on Friday.” She remarked, playing the classic ‘but-you-could-have’ card that many doctors in the fleet used once in awhile. As if adding to the emphasis of her words, she pointed the blunt tip of her stylus at him, shaking it, in a manner that could be described as a mother scolding a child.. or a CMO scolding literally anyone in a position of command.

“But yet, I am still here,” Aaron said grinning. She wasn’t going to take away the beauty of actually seeing it from him, even with the idea of possibly being fried to a crisp.

“Mm, fair enough.” If she could roll her eyes, she probably would. However, lacking irises, it made it almost impossible for it to look like anything beyond a Betazoid with something caught in their eye. “Just be safe. Beauty is entrancing, but also dangerous.”

“I have no doubt that it was, as not many people get the chance to see the aftereffect of a dying star.” Odraavi smiled, getting his height and weight, once he had stepped up, as she tapped it down onto the PaDD. “As for the physical, you seem to be in adequate health. Is there anything you have questions about or need me to know? Sleeping problems, rheumatic issues, anything?”

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

“Thank you Doctor,” Aaron said taking a step back. “Nothing in particular for myself, but I do have a question for you. How are you liking the Starbase so far? Is there anything that I should be talking to the Captain about for you?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“Not an issue, Sir.” She made certain that everything was recorded in his file, as he was soon signed off for being fit for duty. Having the file returned to the database, she shifted her attention back to Foley. “I’ve been here over a year and haven’t experienced any issues yet,” Odraavi grinned. “Nothing at all, Commander. Thank you, for the consideration. On that same note, if you or the Captain require anything, medically, we are down here.”
