Accepting the glass, the Halliian took a generous sip and let the wine fill her mouth before she swallowed. She wasn’t dwelling on the incident, but she also wasn’t quite ready to let it go either. She knew a lot of that hinged in her awkward relationship with her mother and the feeling that things were left unresolved. “My mother was a brilliant scientist,” she said finally.

As Ash slid into the bed she put her glass and the bottle on her night stand as she wrapped her arm around the Rendana and let her rest her head on her chest as she spoke.

“I was born on Halii, but we moved to Vega Colony when I was young because of her work. Everything was always about her work, which is pretty much why my parents separated. For a few years I thought they might get back together but it did seem like they loved each other, but they divorced two years before I started at the Academy. We weren’t n bad terms or anything, but it was awkward spending time with her. When I joined the Academy, she seemed to open up a bit more as if my having career goals was something we suddenly shared. We weren’t exactly close, but she was still my mother. All I know is there was an accident. I understand as a Starfleet officer that classified files are that for a reason, but damned if I don’t really care about that and just want answers. What could she have possibly been working on?”

“Sometimes we never get to know, not sure which is easier never knowing though or knowing too much. Still, you seem far stronger than you give yourself credit.” Ash said as she took her hand in hers as she brought it to her lips as she gave it a soft kiss.

Williams, Marine CO

She shook her head. “It’s not about strength,” Avalise said, shifting her wine glass to her other hand so she could wrap an arm around Ashley. “It’s about my relationship with my mom and not feeling like I know her at all. And now it’s too late to know for sure. So the only ones who can tell me are the ones she worked with. And to know that I’d have to know about her work. But like hell they’ll some junior grade lieutenant anything about classified projects.”

“Then don’t stop till you find out, don’t let people slow you down. Fight, bite, kick, flirt… whatever is needed. You don’t seem like one that is going to let someone saying no stop them.” Ash said as she ponder a bit. “I can always help where needed, I don’t know if I can get your more details but men are often intimated of my accuracy with a weapon and thigh muscles, always seems to make them question not answering me.” she said teasingly as, Ash had never been shy to intimidate her way in if she needed to, though she couldn’t deny flirting did work too. She may not bat for the team but she long ago learned how to use it to her assets.

Williams, Marine CO

Avalise laughed, both out of amusement and a bit of bitterness. “I wish it were so easy, she said with a sigh. “I need to do it the right way, but I haven’t quite figured out what that might be. I just know that I don’t want innocent people to get hurt because I can’t let some details about my mother’s life go.” She frowned a bit. “You know, even saying it that way makes it all sound a bit pathetic, but all I know is it’s important to me.”
