“I think we need wine, and I never said I was done with you.” Ashley said as she leaned over and gave her a kiss before getting out, the sheets falling off as she walked over to her drink cabinet.

“Is that a threat or a promise?” Avalise said with an amused smile as she shifted herself to a sitting position and wrapped the covers around her to keep her skin from chilling.

“It can be whatever you want as long as you stay in that bed.” she said as she looked back to give her a smile before grabbing the drinks.

Avalise just chuckled and sank into her pillow wearing a contented grin.

Coming back she settled in, pouring some glasses. “I am always here, sometimes you just need to work out some frustrations, or need a friend. Nothing wrong with that, and you I feel need a lot of forgetting.”

Rendana laughed. “Maybe I do,” she said as she accepted a glass and took a sip. “It just bugs me how easily I was set off. I thought I was at least coming to a place where I could go about my day without constantly thinking about her and all that I don’t know. Clearly I was very mistaken and I have a lot more work to do with it,” she said with a shake of her head.

Handing her the drink she took a sip as she looked at her. “You want to tell me more, you don’t have to all I promised is to take your mind off her. I also have no problems listening either.”

Accepting the glass, the Halliian took a generous sip and let the wine fill her mouth before she swallowed. She wasn’t dwelling on the incident, but she also wasn’t quite ready to let it go either. She knew a lot of that hinged in her awkward relationship with her mother and the feeling that things were left unresolved. “My mother was a brilliant scientist,” she said finally. “I was born on Halii, but we moved to Vega Colony when I was young because of her work. Everything was always about her work, which is pretty much why my parents separated. For a few years I thought they might get back together but it did seem like they loved each other, but they divorced two years before I started at the Academy. We weren’t n bad terms or anything, but it was awkward spending time with her. When I joined the Academy, she seemed to open up a bit more as if my having career goals was something we suddenly shared. We weren’t exactly close, but she was still my mother. All I know is there was an accident. I understand as a Starfleet officer that classified files are that for a reason, but damned if I don’t really care about that and just want answers. What could she have possibly been working on?”
