“Since when did the computer become so polite?,” Aaron asked as he tried to hold himself in place against the console he was next to. “The Lieutenant found a spike in our power systems, it looked like some sort of message. We had just started trying to decrypt the message when we started seeing these power fluctuations, and now artificial gravity failure Captain.”

He pulled himself down by the lip of the console, and tried to tuck his boots underneath the bottom lip to hold himself down.

Briony’s brow furrowed as she held onto the desk to keep herself steady in the gravityless environment. “Are you telling me we got a computer virus?” It was a crude description, but she thought perhaps it was accurate.

“At this point, if the computer isn’t responding, the only thing I can probably do is do a manual hard reboot and switch us to the secondary core for the interim, but I’ll have to get down to computer cores to do it.” It was utterly suck to have to make anyway through the station with partial or no gravity and who knew if doors and latches were working properly. She’d have to get equipment, especially an emergency hand actuator.

“Go Lieutenant, see what you can find out. We need to get the station back up and running, and we can’t operate like this.”

Avalise nodded and, keeping one hand on something at all times, moved very slowly over to a far wall where they kept the emergency equipment.

Kelly was on watch when the alarms went off of gravity loss. She reached over to tap out a few commands on the nearby console. Noticing the promenade was still maintaining gravity, she then noticed other places weren’t. As the bridge lit up as one place beginning to ‘float’ she tapped her badge. =^= 2nd Lieutenant Pippin here. Bridge, are you all right? Besides loss of gravity? I’m noticing it all over the station. Though promenade is holding. Sending security there now to be on standby in case of loss there as well.=^= She nodded to one of the other Marines in the room with her and him and his buddy took off to do just that, grabbing a couple more from the next room as they departed.

She was about to put in a call to the Marine Commander, out of ‘knee jerk’ habit when she remembered they were off station on a hiatus for a spell. Realizing she was at the ‘helm’ so to speak, she began checking other areas to see where she needed to get Marine and security assistance to.

=^= We are okay up here for now Lieutenant. Work with security to clear the promenade, and get the civilians to the shelters. We are experiencing computer problems, and we don’t know what is going to happen next. =^= Aaron didn’t have to say it, but they had to be prepared for just about anything.

=^=Harris to Ops be advised we’re floating around the docking ring. I’m beginning evacuations of the entire area. I recommend for safety reasons that this area be restricted to all personnel and halt all incoming ships from docking til this is fixed Sir.”

“Yes, call general quarters. Security should keep its eye on the chaos level at all stations. If the Promenade loses gravity, there is a possibility of looting. Have Marines stand by just in case that becomes a problem. Delay all docking and ask anyone currently on the docking ring to return to their ships if they can. Let’s keep this orderly people.”

About then an incoming transmission alert appeared on the comms board.

=^=Roger, Bridge… we’ll see to the Promenade.... Kelly, out. =^= The Marine sighed and sent calls to the security on call as well as those off shift.

Within five minutes, all available security and Marines had been dispatched in teams of two to all major corridor junctions (to keep folks from crossing into gravity limited areas and assist with evacs from those areas) as well the Promenade to assist with evac and securing of all stores and businesses.

“Captain, all of the docked ships should remain docked until we can make sure that they haven’t been infected. Whatever it is that infected our computers could have jumped across the power umbilicals to those ships as well.”

Aaron was momentary distracted by the incoming transmission. “Um Captain. We have an incoming transmission.”

Briony shook her head. The Captain had meant exactly what she had said, no more, no less. Perhaps in time Aaron would learn how to interpret her commands, but since he was new to her and her style, she simply reiterated her command to him concerning the docked ships personnel. “Commander Foley, I want the people to return to their ships, not for them to disembark. They will be far safer on board their vessels then floating in the corridors of the docking ring, would you not agree? Play the transmission and try to decipher the origin.”

Meanwhile, Rendana had made it to the wall and was retrieving a kit. Nothing fancy, just a few medical things, a general tricorder, hand actuators for doors and a rebreather in case atmosphere was compromised. It wouldn’t do the trick of a full EV suit, but it would save her life if needed. Moving slightly to the right, she opened the hatch to the jefferies tubes and looked over her shoulder. “goin’ in. Wish me luck. I’ll keep you posted about my progress but it could take me awhile to get to cores,” she warned them, in case they were expecting magic and miracles. She didn’t even know if the jefferies tubes even had gravity themselves yet!
