“Oh, I don’t mind the rambling, I’m taking mental notes, promise,” Rendana said with a smile. “But specific questions I can do. “What about the power core? Do we have issues at particular times? Any variances to watch for?”

Mia smiled “The power core needs to be diagnosed several times a day. The usual high usage times are about 5:00 p.m. until about 10:00 p.m. and then from 6:00 a.m. to about 9:00 a.m.” She said “The variances can run from .01 to .03 microns. It just depends on who is using the grid at the time. You have to watch the science department, they like to increase their uptake of power without letting you know.” She said

Rendana couldn’t help but smirk. “Sounds familiar. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on them,” she said with a chuckle. “So, tell me about the Blue Note. I’m curious about its history here,” she said, genuine in her interest. It was nice to get to know the different places one could go when off duty and even better to get to know the proprietors.

Mia smiled “This is Blue Note 4.” She said “Blue Note 3 is on Outpost 42, Blue Note 2 is in San Diego and the original Blue Note is in San Francisco. They are all owned and operated by my husband, Nicky Murphy.” She said, her eyes clouding for a moment as she thought about her husband “We’ve been open here for almost five years.” She added “We play a mixture of blues, jazz, and classic rock from the 1950’s and 60’s.”

“As you can see we also serve food. You can get your usual pub food or a four star dinner. Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.” Mia added as a small blonde haired child came up to her “Mama, Beth said I had to ask for ice cream.” She looked nothing like Mia “After dinner. Have an apple now.” She said and took the child by the hand “You’re being rude…what do you do when you see Mama talking with a new person and you interrupt?” Mia asked the five year old.

The child looked down “I’m sorry, Mama, ma’am. I should have waited until you were done talking.” She said and gave Mia a small smile and then walked around to the other side of the table “I’m Mitzi Murphy. I’m 5 years old and I have a brother and a sister that are six months old. What’s your name?” She asked politely extending her hand to Rendana.
