Stepping onto the bridge, Remy stopped near the comms officer. “Shore leave is cancelled. recall everyone back to de ship, we ‘ave new orders.”NE Bell looked at the captain, confused. “Sir? There haven’t been any incoming transmissions from command recently. How–“
“They came directly to me. . . on an encrypted channel. Eyes only, ensign.
Moving toward the ready room, he continued with the orders. “NE Andretti, set course for Starbase 74. As soon as everyone is aboard, take us out. I will be in de ready room.”
Boudreaux (CO)
Reilly was eating a sandwich in his office when the recall went out. He looked confused a moment and then went to call the CO, but then just dusted his hands off. =^= Computer. Where is Captain Boudreaux? =^= he asked. =^= The Captain is in the Ready Room. =^= came the response and Reilly stood and made his way there, hitting the chime when he arrived.
Reilly, XO
OOC: I goofed. Forgot to call everyone back to the ship and crosss post the invite to this here soiree.
IC: Remy was contemplating how to describe what had just happened with Adm. Frederic when the chime rang.
“Entrer,” he said looking up.
“Jason, we ‘ave new orders.”
He indicated for the XO to take a seat and contuned. “I will waiy ‘yil de oders arrive ‘fore I ‘splain.”
Boudreaux (CO)
Reilly simply nodded and took a seat as indicated.
Lt. Mado arrived in the ready room just in time to hear Alita speak. He saw the container on the desk, and knew that Admiral Frederic had been here.
When Alita heard the call she was still in the transporter room.
=^=Captain Boudreax, you know I would never willfully disobey an order but I have something in my possession, at the moment, I really don’t want left out of my sight. Would our new orders have anything to do with such a situation?” Alita asked.
- Alita, MO/COS
Lt. Mado decided to take the advantage of alerting the Chief of Security by reporting in. “Lt. Mado, reporting as ordered sir. Also sir, the toy car in the Science Lab has been secured. There is an item that still needs to be secured, sir,” said Lt. Mado, loudly enough to make sure the good Lieutenant hear him.
GM
Reilly looked at Mado and then to the Captain. “Why do I get the feeling that I’m about ten pages behind in whatever playbook you guys are operating from?” His tone was jovial… his face was most certainly not.
Reilly, XO
Alita had a few choice Cajun curse words for Mado but she held her tongue and ran for the lift.
=^=Never mind. Question answered.=^=
Personally, she didn’t know who this man thought he was but he really needed to stop rubbing her the wrong way.
A few minutes later, the ready room door opened and Alita quietly slipped in taking a seat at the opposite end of the table.
With a quick glance around she had nothing to say to anyone until spoken to.
- Alita, MO/COS
OOC: I’m going to start this. Ray can jump in when he posts.
IC: Remy looked at the faces gathered around the table, then began. “Wit’ de excep-SHON of Lt. Mado, I wanted de tree of you to ‘ear dis first. I trust you more dan anyone else on de ship. Lt. Mado is involved, because ‘e is already privy to much of dis informa-SHON.”
“We ‘ave new orders an’ from dis point on, our orders will be comine from Adm. Frederic. She is de ‘ead of a specialized section of Star Fleet Intelligence. We are goine to be collectors of very rare and possibly very dangerous. . . .artifacts dat are scattered troughout de galaxy. Lt. Mado ‘as been workine with Adm. Frederic for a while now.”
Addressing Mado, he continued. “Lt., please interrupt me wit’ de proper informa-SHON if need be.”
Boudreaux (CO)
“Aye sir,” replied Lt. Mado, “As I explained to Lt. Claire, certain objects over time can develop unique metaphysical properties. The coin that Lt. Claire found on Risa is such an item. Apparently, holding it in any matter results in intoxication. I see that Admiral Frederic left you a containment device for the coin, Captain.”
GM
“Oui,Lt.,” Remy repied.
Reilly looked at Mado and said “So what do all of these objects have in common?”
Reilly, XO
“You mean other than metaphysical properties that defy our understanding of the universe, Commander?” asked Lt. Mado.
GM
Reilly looked at him and smiled. “Why yes, yes I do mean other than metaphysical properties that defy our understanding of the universe, Lieutenant. As in… do you know why these specific items develop these properties? Is there a commonality to them? Or are you, and by default now us, just running willy-nilly all over the galaxy? I’m asking, Lieutenant, how do you find these items and what you are doing with them once they are retrieved?”
Reilly, XO
“This information is obviously being classified at the highest levels, but seeing as Admiral Frederic herself informed you, Captain, I suppose I can answer the Commander’s question. The exact reason is still unknown due to the lack of the fundamental understanding of the universe, that is to say, it is currently beyond our current knowledge and still being researched into. However, the USS Enterprise-D encountered a part of the universe where the mere thought translated into reality, and an alien being who used thought to travel faster than light. A division of scientists have been studying this under Starfleet Intelligence Research and Development for many years, and they have not made much progress. As for the commonality – no, there does not seem to be any commonality other than an object’s age,” said Mado, in a matter-of-fact-tone.
The Captain interrupted him to answer the Commander’s remaining questions.
“I am ‘opine we will be able to modify EDDIE’s search parameters to react to a certain type of signature dat will alert us some’ow. We are ‘eadine to Stabase 74 to pick up supplies an’ containment for de artifacts. We will den be deliverine dem to a ware’ouse.”
“Actually Captain, I will be able to make the necessary modifications to short and long range sensors so that the standard LCARS computer can perform the search parameters without involving EDDIE. I read the report from Lt. Prefect – EDDIE needs to be completely focused on the drive’s operation otherwise unintended side effects occur.”
Mado brought out a funky looking modified tricorder that seemed to be a mixed of 24th century and steampunk design. “The sensors can run its data processing through this special tricorder to help isolate the specific metaphysical signals,” replied Mado.
He put on the purple gloves and turned to Alita. “Lt. Claire, may I ‘ave de coin, please. I understand you ‘ave already felt de effects of what it can do?”
Boudreaux (CO)
Alita was glad to see someone asking Mado the hard questions. She wanted to see him squirm. This time there would be witnesses present. Nodding, she gladly handed the coin over.
“Yes, I suppose it could make one feel a bit tipsy if you didn’t have a strong enough constitution.” Alita explained.
- Alita, MO/COS
“I recall, Lieutenant, the effects grew exponentially over time, though you loathed to actually show it,” observed Mado.
GM
Alita’s sparkling green eyes iced over as they met Mado’s and she couldn’t help a bit of Cajun slipping through.
“I apol’gize if m’self control offends you. You’ll ‘ave to learn to live wit it.”
- Alita, MO/COS
Remy lowered his head and smirked. She’s more like me than I would have ever guessed, he thought.
“Dis coin is de third artifact I ‘ave ever been aware of. De toy car found in de shuttle was one. It has de power to drain energy from powered objects. Day is why my shuttle lost power on de way to Risa. A second object is safely stored away on de ship. It ‘as been in my possess-SHON for quite some time. An’ now de coin. I am beginnine to wonder if de Wolverine is a magnet for dese items, or is it simply coincidence?”
IC: “I’ve surprisingly heard of this Admiral before, Captain.” Commander Erin finally announced. Bryson wasn’t too worried about any repercussions of saying anything since he did have clearance at the time.
Erin
Ops“You ‘ave, Bryson? What were you’ dealings with de Admiral?”
Boudreaux (CO)
As Remy quizzed Bryson, Reilly looked at Mado since the man had deflected some of his line of questioning. “And what, exactly, is that age? And have the powers that be looked at what happened at that time? I mean… you are looking at objects of a specific age, at least that’s what you said, right? Have you looked at what happened in that time?”
Reilly, XO
Alita sat back in her chair attempting to remain expressionless. She had a very strong feeling that the Wolverine was a magnet for many shades of crazy and this was just the latest incarnation. And was that a smirk she saw on Remy’s face?
- Alita, MO/COS
“My friend, Fleet Captain Lawrence, had some dealings with her while on the Asimov.” Commander Erin stated. The Ops manager relaxed his stance some and leaned forward. “Apparently she has the ability to appear in a holographic state without any nearby emitters, which means she’s also capable of listening in on our conversations as well…” Bryson stated. “....I knew Commander Wells’s name sounded familiar when I met her.” The Commander added, “She’s acquainted with the Admiral.”
“As far as I know, she’s had some dealings on the Asimov and Viking, but when I pestered for more information Lawrance backed down and told me to contact Fleet Captain Weir on the Odin.”
