Keying the door chime, “Morning Bright” waited patently for the counselor to answer. He did not envy the person behind that door, his job was much easier. Examining the material culture and languages of past civilizations was buy far easier than untangling the sentient mind. Tho it was often useful to collaborate with the counseling department, being that the artifacts he worked with were produced buy minds not just hands or their equivalent.

Kadence came around the corner just then and smiled. “Afternoon. Sorry I’m late. Someone needed my help.” She keyed the door open and invited him in. “Come on in and get comfortable. Can I offer you something to drink? Ensign Morning Bright, yes?” She was smiling and cordial like nothing was amiss.
“Morning Bright” eyed to woman for a second before moving so she could reach the door. “ Quite all right.” He said in a low rumble.
The room was sparsely, though tastefully, decorated. There was the usual clutter of PaDDs on her desk to the side and the table between the couch and chairs near the window had a tray on it with remnants of tea having been left suddenly and unexpectedly. It was to that tray that the woman had wandered to straight away to remove and take to the replicator counter.
The shelves were sparse but here and there were odd tidbits. From small framed holo pics, to an oddity of nicknacks. Twigs, stones, rocks, even broken jewelry littered the six or seven spots scattered over the four shelves as if she had tried to stretch the meager ‘decorations’ to make the shelves look full and useful.
Back by the door, she kicked off her small ankle boots and walked around in her stocking feet with an obvious comfort that made one think it was almost ritual.

CounselorFollowing the Counselor into her office, “Morning Bright” took in the room, eyeing the small bits of material culture on display, reminiscent of the contents of shamans medicine bag he thought. For most in his mind was how to fit his self into the space with out crowding the young officer. Fitting himself in to human scale architecture was often his greatest challenge as a member of starfleet.
Finding a place to stand, if not lay “Morning Bright” then saw to arranging his tail so the door would close. “I hope one of our crew mates wasn’t in crisis” said as way of small talk wile he wondered as to the meaning of the personal totems on display.

“No, nothing serious. Old traumas rearing their ugly head in nightmares is all. She had a bad night and wanted to get it off her chest was all.” She moved back to the coffee table and picked up the small cluster of candles and set them in one of the vacant spots on the shelf. She then shoved the chair back against the wall and settled the coffee table back a bit from the couch and smiled. “I’m sorry it’s not overly comfortable,” she said, adding a couple of the chair cushions to it. “But it’s plenty sturdy to hold your weight and I’m sure much better than standing. I’ll also make note to add additional seating to fit you in the common room, mess hall and in here as well.” She smiled and motioned for the large man to make himself more comfortable. “How are your quarters? Have they made appropriate accommodations?” She smiled softly, “And please, be honest. I want you as comfortable as you can be. Not ‘sacrificing’ for the benefit of being a martyr. All right?”

CNSQuietly watching the woman rearrange her office to accommodate him, “If I may suggest, we don’t really ‘ set’ as much as squat or lay. A similar athletic to your Asian cultures.” Moving toward the coffee table. “If I may?”
“Morning Bright” moves the table A comfortable distance from her chair. Then taking the cushions and using them as pillows he settled himself in the space between the couch and the table.
“Morning Bright”s pose was that of a hundred paintings of terrestrial dragons, laying on his breast bone, tail curled up around him with his head up and nose pointed back slightly. In this posture he took up little more room than the couch it’s self.
“My quarters are very much a work in progress, the hygiene and sanitation facilities are inadequate and difficult to arrange with out causing inconvenience to those who share them. “ raising his crest and lightning his head color in a ‘smile’ “ luckily, as I don’t sweat the simple expedient of swimming in the holo suit a few times a week is more than sufficient for hygiene. Arranging a squat toilet to accommodate my size however is proving to be an issue.” Pausing a second, “ otherwise placing the desk on the bed platform and installing some matting and cushions has proved comfortable. I even retained the chairs In case of visitors.”
Gnalish facial expressions took time to learn, the set of the crest, color changes and head tilt were all part of it. And tho he ‘smiled’, ‘chuckled’ and ‘even winked’ he would have been surprised if the counselor learned to read his expressions anytime in the near future.

Kadence listened and made some mental notes to speak to engineering and the Captain about when she was done here. The way that Morning found comfort on the ground made her a bit envious. Surely it was out of physical necessity, but it looked ridiculously comfortable to her. Her smile softened as she nodded. “I’m sure the holosuites can provide, but they shouldn’t have to. I will speak to those who can fix things. Perhaps even see if we have space for you to have separate quarters to make sleeping and waking ‘and’ necessary accommodations a bit more accessible. I’ll also see to it a report is sent to Star Fleet to make such accommodations for any other of your kind who come to the Fleet as well as the Academy.” She smiled and nodded.
“How are you getting on with the others? Any issues arising like pranks or insults or folks not willing to be around you?” She knew it was personal, but it was her job to see to the adjustment and happiness, if possible, of those on the ship.
