Alita was glad to know the eating preferences of at least one of her friends. Guessing wrong had gotten her in trouble at the academy once or twice.

“Vegetarian… Hmmm… I’ll keep that in mind. Don’t get me wrong about Sovol. I know him to be a very honorable man but I just think some of this family stuff could be a little taxing. I try not to get too crazy with it all but it’s like discovering a prat of your life you never knew existed. Maybe if we get the chance to speak in person someday, subspace can be so impersonal you know?” she said.

Ayla nodded. “Yes, I do. But, just a thought… if you ever want help delving into any of that stuff, you know I’m here for you right? I do specialize in mediation and getting people to talk about stuff. I’m kind of good at it,” she said with a wink.

Alita laughed.

“Hmmm. Maybe over a vegetarian breakfast of some kind. You know I’m just plying you with food so you’ll convince my grandfather to let me take over the galley right?” she laughed and smiled obviously joking.

Ayla laughed loudly. “With such tiny amounts of resources on this ship, I doubt any such efforts, if well timed, would be misplaced. But, if you need me to put in a word, I might be able to do something about that. You know, since I’m also in charge of morale around here.”

Alita frowned for just a second.

“And I’m sure some cases are harder than others. We have such an interesting crew that morale must be more complicated than I realized. Oh let’s see… Vegetarian, Cajun, and Thienna requested stuffed peppers. And then there’s Draddok, K’Mar, and Petrov. What a menu.” she said with another laugh.

“The crew’s preferences are as diverse as the people themselves. And I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Ayla said with a deep smile. She realized in that moment how comfortable she had become on this ship, and in a relatively short period of time. Some days she deeply missed the Saracen, but she was glad to be here on this ship if misfits.
