Remy turned and reached for the box, listening intently to everything Donnie was saying about the children he never knew. “An’ dey were twins,no? Dat makes sense. Twins run in de family. My frer, Merlion, is de chief of security on de USS Nash. He ‘as ‘eld dat posi-SHON for a long time. Dere are oder sets of twins in past genera-SHONS, too many to count at dis time. “

“De Boudreaux family originally came to North America from France during colonial times. Dey originally settled in eastern Canada, fore de British pushed dem out. De were known as Acadians, for dat area of Canada. The Acadians moved to Loosiana and evetually became known as Cajuns. De family ‘as been dere ever since. Dat is where de family business is based. Still, a fairly successful business, at dat.”

Boudreaux (CO)

Talk of a family business piqued Donny’s curiosity. He had always been interested in trying new things and maybe spending some more time on Earth would be good for him.

“Family business hmmm? That sounds, actually, kind of interesting. Yeah, there are a lot of twins around this family too. Too many sides of it to count really. My mother, Miryam, was trying to do a family tree fro Anna but I swear it put gray in her hair and she had to stop. That is one artifact that actually disappeared, sorry. As a matter of fact, no-one’s heard from her since she married husband number two a few years ago. Go ahead and open that box and make sure nothing’s broken. Trust me, you don’t want Gran blaming us for that.” Donny said with a smirk.

“It might be a good tine dat it disappeared. I can only imagine ‘ow convoluted it would look once my side of de family was included. Dat would be one mighty warped tree.”

The box Remy was holding was of a plain highly polished dark wood which opened easily to reveal four crystal glasses that would hold about an ounce of liquid. They were precisely cut with heavy bottoms to them. The bottoms had little red flecks that sparkled int he light.

Remy pulled on of the classes out and held it up to the light. “It is exquisite. Fine craftmanship, indeed.” He gently replaced the glass into the box and asked, “An’ my son, Glen made dem?”

Boudreaux (CO)

Donnie had found himself a place to sit amongst all the family heirlooms.

“Yes actually, he did. Not much to do when you’re not working the rock I guess. He made a lot of interesting things. A lot of people are gifted I guess, nothing you’d find in a real museum. Just stuff to pass down or share. S’Vol could probably tell you a lot more than me. I mean he knew them all but, when it comes tot hat whole situation, now that I understand it, I think he let his Human side make him very jealous of Glen and Emmy. Pretty unbecoming of a Vulcan right? He always told me that Sissy reminded him the most of Bre.” Donnie shook his head, “I guess I’ll have to take his word for that.”

He placed the glass back into the box and handed it to Donnie. As he did so, he scrutinized Donnie closely. The two of them did share some resemblances. Mostly the eyes, Remy noticed. It was almost as if he was looking into his own–he could sense the same mischevious love of adventure. . .

“Remind me again, who is S’Vol? I’ve heard de name, bu’ I am drawine a blank. . . “

Boudreaux (CO)

Donnie held the glasses.

“Anna’s probably going to give these to you and tell you the story of how I stole two of them when I was seventeen. What can I say? Mariah dared me and she was a quarter Orion.” Donnie paused and grinned form ear to ear for several long seconds.

“S’Vol is Emmy and Glen’s younger half brother. Bre’s son by her Vulcan mate. You see, the night you two got together she was probably on her way to meet him but everything kind of got side tracked and they didn’t end up getting together for Antone three or four years. He’s very much a recluse even for a Vulcan and he disappeared about the same time Bre’s ship would have come forward… Ah damn it… I don’t speak time travel.” he gave Remy a frustrated look.

Donnie had never really cared for S’Vol but he didn’t have to.

“Tree years?!? I must ‘ave made quite de impress-SHON. ‘Course, it could ‘ave been de Bajoran Blue wine, also. A piece of advice fo’ you, young man–stay away from Bajoran Blue wine. . . “

He looked at the box the glasses were in. “I would very much like to ‘ave de glasses. I would cherish dem. It would give me sometine to remind me dat I ‘ad chillen’s, even if I never got to know dem.”

It was at that moment that Anna and Alita reappeared in the doorway.

“Ah. I’m so glad you found them.” Anna said, “It took three years young grandfather of mine because, dear Bre had issues in that department so to say. S’Vol was the only other child she was able to bear but her mate never left her. Not even for that reason.”

Anna handed Remy a bottle.

“Yes, you may keep the glasses and pour us a toast dear one.” Anna said reclaiming her chair.

For her part, Alita looked a little shaken. Anna had been able to unearth a few secrets from her as only grandparents could. Luckily, she had most of her composure back by that time and was able to smile at Donnie and Remy again. The sight of them together made her feel so good inside.
