Inside was a golden pin, shaped like a wizards’ hat. It was rather unusual, only because it was sent from Risa. It didn’t seem something that would be made on Risa or sold on Risa.

“I was aware you were a Harry Potter fan, Ensign,” Bryson said as he peered at the pin. The Operations Manager shrugged his shoulders and took a step back for the Doctor to examine her gift more closely. “Seems a little personal for a random gift if you ask me.” Bryson laughed, taking another look at the pin.

Lily reached in and picked up the pin. It was heavy so it was probably real gold and not just plastic. “Maybe but whoever sent it could just be trying to be nice. I mean haven’t you ever gotten a gift out of the blue to say thank you or welcome aboard?”

“Are you sure your husband didn’t send that you as a surprise?” The Commander asked.

“Nah Duncan is more classical like Shakespeare but he does like those orc and elf things by that guy,” she fiddled with the pin as she spoke, “Tolkien,” she finally remembered the name. “Or not,” she got a far off look on her face. Duncan actually is well read but I dunno if he is pro or con the wizarding world.”

“Scan it for fingerprints?” Bryson asked as he continued to stare at the object. Commander Erin didn’t have a need to feel weary about the object, but he did feel weirded out that it arrived straight from Risa without going through operations for logging.

“Meet anyone on Risa while you were down there?” Bryson asked, hoping to find some conclusion to why the gift was delivered.
