Kadence straightened her uniform and moved down the hallway. She had enjoyed her dinner with the XO the previous evening. He was certainly a charmer. Nothing had come of it, but she had the feeling she’d be seeing him at the Italian place again. Whether with her or not. She got the distinct impression, most of his time over the planet would be spent at that place.

As she came to the Captain’s office, she nodded to the various and assorted skeleton crew still wandering the halls. She liked a Captain who rotated the time off. Kept everyone relatively in the ‘good behavior’ category, and kept the ship going.

Tapping the chime, the new Counselor waited to meet the Captain. She had glanced over the file, but mostly just to know current cursory info about him. She preferred to learn about her people on her own without the outline of ‘official business’ clogging her vision.

OOC: I’ve been waiting for this. Don’t know how I missed it? ((apparently the same way I did… sorry lol))

IC: Remy was deep in thought, contemplating the most recent goings-on taking place aboard his ship. Too many things just weren’t making sense. So deep in thought was he, that he hadn’t noticed the chime until it went off the second time. Sitting up in the chair behind his desk and taking on a “Captainly” appearance, he calmly said, “Entrer,” came the reply.

As the door opened and Kady walked in, she paused and took a look around. While part was in seeing where the voice was and the decoration, the part of her the Captain would notice was that her gaze seemed to take in more than just that. She continued towards him less than a heartbeat later. “Captain…” she nodded with respect and smiled.

She would see the captain behind his desk. His dark hair was unruly; definitely not standard Star Fleet issue, as it almost seemed there was a constant wind blowing by. His matching musketeer goatee was well-trimmed and neat. Eyes, dark and intense. But, it was smile that was disarming: half-crooked and mischievous. As the new counselor entered, Remy stood and offered his right hand. When he spoke, his diction was laced with a thick Cajun accent. “Dis is a lagniappe. If I ‘ad known Command was goine to send me such a belle for a counselor, I would ‘ave requested one sooner.”

He offered Kadence the seat on the other side of the desk and after she sat, Remy returned to his seat. “Welcome to de Wolverine, Lt.”

Boudreaux (CO)

She shook his hand with a practiced firm grip. Her oldest brother had taught her well saying that as a women, it might often be what saves her life. She still contemplates that, but she never forgot how to shake a hand. “You flatter me, Captain. You do know you have the right to request any Counselor you desire. And we and all our bios are available. So you are welcome. Though if you find yourself another belle,” her voice dropping like a Southern Debutaunt, “I’m sure they would be happy to take my place. Though I admit, I would be a bit heartbroken.” She laughed and settled in the seat he offered.

“You came ‘ighly recommended, Lt. I was extremely impressed wit’ you’ work wit’ personnel sufferine’ from PTSD. A ship like de Wolverine an’ de jobs she ‘as to perform can be. . . ques-SHON-able. My instincts tell me you ‘ave what it takes allay dose ques-SHONS. Besides, wit’ as many ugly mugs dat are on dis ship, beauty is a luxury.”

“I have to say, for the type of men and woman you have on board, everyone has been open and kind. Your XO in particular. He was kind enough to renew my faith in the culinary fair that Risa has to offer.” She smiled and nodded to him. “But I digress. It’s good to finally meet you. I have heard a lot and look forward a few years of learning some amazing things.” Her near white blue eyes looked at him framed with jet black hair pulled back into a plaited coil on the back of her head. Her uniform was impeccable and her boots finely polished.

So Reilly had already beaten him to the punch. Two can play that game, he thought. “I look forward to teachine you some of dose amazing tines, infiltra-SHON, extract-SHON, decp-SHON,. . . seduc-SHON, everytine a god black operator needs to know to be successful.”

The Captain made her smile. Obviously he hadn’t gotten deep into her back files, which she was actually grateful for. But in the back of her mind mind she realized she’d confess to him eventually.

His impish grin returned as he asked, “Cmdr. Reilly did no’ take you to dat Italian place on de surface, did he? De food is good, but is notine compared to autentic Cajun food. Jambalaya, gumbo, or bisque, prepared by a real Cajun.”

“I ‘ate to break dis to you, bu’ you are no’ de first woman he ‘as taken dere, an’ mos’ likely, you will no’ be de last. I’m sorry to tell you.”

Boudreaux (CO)

Kady laughed. “I think I’d be more worried if you told me you’d never seen him with a woman at all.” And as he mentioned the cooking, she narrowed her eyes, humor still on her face. “Now come, come, Captain Boudreaux… you cannot tell me honestly that if I took you up on your offer for for some genuine jambalaya, that I’d somehow, miraculously be your first woman you’d done that for.” She like the heavy accented man and thought she was really going to enjoy her tenure here.

The gym, though, would have to become get new best friend as well. Especially with two handsome and charming men plying her with food.

“I would be lyine if I said no, but rarely ‘as it been for pleasure. Most of de time, it ‘as been work. . . seduce a woman, strictly for intel gatherine reasons. It is a rough job, but when dey see a man dat can cook, an’ do it well, I ‘ave found it amazing how much some women will give up. . . informa-SHON, dat is.”

Remy came out from behind his desk and sat in the chair next to his new counselor. “So tell me, Kadence, what do you favor?”

Boudreaux (CO)

She laughed. “Keeping at least some of my secrets. But seriously, are you asking if I prefer Italian or a nice Creole dish?” She raised her eyebrow in teasing query. “Cause if you are, I can’t say. I haven’t had a nice Creole dish in many, many years. Yet I had Italian just recently. So I don’t think I can fairly judge.” She smiled at him as she shifted to face him better. The Captain was keeping her on her toes.

He raised a finger and placed it softly on her lips.. ” Shhhhh. No’ Creole. Creole is a po’ man’s cajun. Once you ‘ave real Cajun food, made by a real Cajun, you will fo’get all ‘bout de Italian. Dere is no comparison, belle.”

If the XO and CO were this way, she was curious what the rest of the crew was going to do when meeting her.

“If it is pasta you desire, dere are many Cajun dishes wit’ pasta. De Italians may ‘ave invented pasta, but de Cajuns perfected it.”

He smiled and continued. “As fo’ you’ secrets, I could fin’ dem quite easily, bu’ I would radder hear dem comine fro you, over dinner? Holodeck 2, say 1900 hours?”

Boudreaux (CO)

She shivered as his finger touched her lip and she ran her tongue over them as he dropped his hand and continued. “Actually, you are safe. Italians didn’t invent pasta. It was invented in the Far East. But I have to admit I am curious what pasta dishes Cajuns can do. I only know of Gumbo and Jambalaya. Neither of which had pasta in them when I got them.”

At the invitation to dinner, she nodded. “I’d be honored. Thank you, Sir. And I guess we will see whose secrets are kept this evening.” She laughed.

“I promise, you will no’ be disappointed. You will be left wantine more, an’ no’ jus’ de food. . . “

His devilish grin was infectious as he stood and offered his hand. “Until den. . . “

Boudreaux (CO)

She laughed. “I’m sure I won’t be.” When he offered his hand, she shifted hers to shake it instead of allowing him to take the opportunity to use it to assist her from the chair. The man was handsome, to be sure. And she could see herself loving his charm. But she also had to remember not to allow such feelings to be explored at this place and time. Perhaps tonight she would allow herself to give it more thought. “Till tonight, Captain. May I be excused, please? I have a couple folks to see to this afternoon before we have dinner.”

She smiled and nodded to him respectfully. Her heart was racing and she hated her body for responding to him this way. It just wasn’t professional.

Sadly, her mind and body argued with the logic.
