The Counselor headed down the hall, PaDD in one hand, and humming an absent tune that changed with her gait and motion. She was heading to Security because her position was one that required her information be logged there, specifically. She needed access to records only Security had. So she had to see them to have the proper access.

Her black hair was plaited and coiled on the back of her head. And her uniform and boots were almost pristine. As a Counselor she didn’t have many things to worry about to stain or rumple her uniform. She walked into Security and asked about the Security Chief.

Ensign Diaz was a lanky Hispanic male who happened to be occupying the COS’ desk at the time. He enjoyed that position, whenever he could get it, and wished he could occupy more but, Lt Claire never seemed to notice him in that manner.

Seeing the unfamiliar woman enter the office he straightened up.

“May I be of assistance ma’am?” he asked smartly.

Kady walked in and smiled. “Kadence Argona, the new CNS. I’m here for my access clearance recording and to speak with the Security Chief?” She had been pretty sure the CoS was female, so she questioned his position in her request, without actually calling him out on where he was sitting.

Diaz sat up and immediately looked over the counselor’s left shoulder.

“Yes Ma’am. Turn around Ma’am.” he said getting a bit tongue tied.

Alita had walked in behind Kady rather stealth-fully but Diaz had caught a glimpse of his boss out of the corner of his eye.

Kadence turned on guard for a moment, then relaxes seeing the Security Chief. “Chief Alita? Lieutenant Argona, Kadence. I’m here to speak to you about my check in and logging my clearance level authorization.” She smiled and offered her hand.

Alita shifted the small package form one hand to the other and shook the Counselor’s hand.

“And here I thought you were here for donuts.” she said holding out the open package.

Glancing past her she frowned a bit at Diaz.

“What are you doing here still? You’re leading phaser drills in five minutes. Go, go, go!”

Diaz stepped from behind the desk and gave the Counselor a wide berth as he attempted to exit the office. He didn’t give his boss such a wide berth however, looking down into the box he actually seemed to pout just a bit.

“Boss, there’s no chocolate.”

Alita shook her head and moved to her desk.

“They’re in your quarters like always. Now go.”

Nodding, Diaz left.

After the door closed, Alita sighed and plucked a donut out of the selection in the box.

“Alita Claire. Nice to meet you. So have a seat and lets figure out those security clearances.” she said with a sigh.

Kadence watched the exchange and smiled. As they moved to settle down and she took the offered chair, she smiled. “Thank you. As you know, there will come a time I need to access certain computer files that may be flagged. I came to give you my clearance codes so you would know it was authorized for me to read them. Due to the nature of most of the crew, I’m sure you can appreciate both the need for the security locks on their accessible files as well as the need for me to occasionally access them.” She crossed her legs and smiled. This seemed to be a woman she could get to know and like.
