OOC: He’s evil!! On a side note. We’re at an impasse with Jason still on LOA. Also, Julia has recently taken on some extra RL responsibilities, so her posting will most likely not be as frequent as she normally is. With that being said, I think it would be a good idea if the COS was on the starbase with Team B (K’Mar and Celador), so that Cel has someone to interact with when Jules is unable to post. So, Catt, if you are okay with that, just jump into the Team B thread as if you were there the whole time. Now, just to keep things straight, Team A consists of Bryson, Ayla, And Draddock. Team B consists of Celador, K’Mar, and now Alita! Thanks.

IC: At the sound of Petrov flipping switches, Remy turned toward Petrov and realized what he had agreed to a few moments ago. Letting the CE continue to shut systems down, the captain turned back toward the main view screen.

Boudreaux (CO)

The CE considered shutting down the Captains Ready Room but thought better of it. He had built up some serious points with the holodeck/tractor beam solution and did not want to spoil that for nothing.

Petrov CE

After some time had went by Mikel registered a surge and then reduction of power to the tractor system. He quickly began checking it over. The tractor system was not using that much power and with the adjustments he had made to the power grid it should be ok. It took him about 5 minutes of checking the system he had rigged to find the problem.

“Captain,” He called out.

Remy rose from his seat and moved to Petrov’s station. Looking over the engeer’s should he asked, ‘What is goine on, Lt.”

“We have an issue.” He put the schematic onto the viewscreen in front of his station. ” Power is still fine but I had to run this through junctions and lines that the flux capicitors and plasma inhibitors are not designed to handle this much power flowing through them. We had a surge of power to the system. Lucky not rnough to cause a sensor detection from that base or visual issue. However now we lost 8% of the tractor beams power. I series of inhibitors burned out. I had to switch them to open. Which means they are not inhibiting anything but are still there. When they burn out the flow gets closed basically. I could fix a few but I’m already seeing strain on the other avenues I have routed through. I project a cascade failure but cannot tell you when but it will not be hours.”

OOC: I can rp the time involved or if the GM is back he can give us that.

Petrov CE

“Warning: Tractor emitter overload detected. System override is currently active. Time to catastrophic failure in 35 minutes,” said the computer, as if responding to the CE’s information, “System override is recommended to be shut off and tractor emitter system to be shut off before possible explosion.”

GM

“You heard it Captain. You have 35 minutes. I can maybe buy a few more minutes but not much.” Petrov said from his station. It was a miracle he had held it together for this long.

Petrov CE

“Merde!,” he said under his breath. “See what you can do, Petrov. I will make de away team aware of de new time constraints.”

Moving back to the center seat, he tapped his comm badge. =^=Boudreaux to Erin.=^=

We ‘ave developed an issue wit’ de “airlock”. You have 15 minutes to get back to de ship. No more!=^=

Though Petrov had said about 35, Remy wanted to take no chances with the away team, hence giving them less time to get back.

Boudreaux (CO)

“Oh noo.....” Bryson whispered to himself as he watched the conversation unfold between the CNS and the merchant.

=^=Captain, we’re actually getting somewhere with one of the merchants, but I think we can quicken the pace.=^=

Erin (XO)

Petrov heard the exchange and said to himself that he had better “quicken the pace” because it might be hard to explain what just happened to their ships dock and with no tractor beam to pull them back to this side then they would be looking for a new ride off the base.

Petrov CE

Now it was not a case of monitoring the systems he had hobbled together. He was now actively modifying and adjusting things on the fly. Every minute that went by took more work. Someone had better get the move on before the system cascaded to an end.

Petrov CE

As the minutes passed, Remy began to get more anxious. Not so much for himself, but for the away team. He had been on plenty of missions on his own with time restraints and was confident in his own abilities. In fact, he sometimes did his best work under pressure. This time, it wasn’t a lack of confidence in his crew, but for how much longer the hologram would continue to hold out.

Even though he felt Petrov often had his own agenda, he was sure the CE didn’t want to jeopardize his chances of getting home safely. “Status report, Mr. Petrov?”

Boudreaux (CO)

Several EPS primary relays began to fail. The secondaries and backups to the secondaries were, for the moment, still functional.

GM

“Its holding but most primary junctions have failed. Were holding on through reroutes. I simply cannot give you a time to failure but its going to happen sooner than later.” Petrov answered.

He was no fan of any person on the Wolverine but neither did he want to see them dead. Less was the fact they died because his rigging of the system failed. Not that this would be his fault because it would not. More because that was the way things went. If they lost, say the COS, in the way back that may be ok as it would fit into Mikels likes. However more than one ight be a tradegy and one he did not want on his record.

Petrov CE

The CO tightened his jaw at the news. Hitting his comm badge in frustration, he called the away team back. =^=Away team, you need to return to de Wolverine, NOW! De bridge is goine to collapse.=^=

Switching channels, he continued. =^=Transporter room, lock onto all away team members. De moment de ‘ologram decides to stop workine, beam dem aboard to safety.=^=

After closing the channel, he muttered under his breath. “An to ‘ell wit’ what de natives tink of our disappearing. . .”

Boudreaux (CO)

“Captain, you do realize, the use of the transporters might alter the timeline dramatically or cause the natives to think we are the demons of air and darkness and begin chasing us,” advised Commander Wells.

GM

“Create a distraction then.” Petrov sad suddenly as the idea entered his head. “Maybe we can aim a low intensity beam at a structural area of this base. Somewhere there are not much people. Somewhere it will look like a stress failure or something. Heck maybe the Away Team can do it. Then we can beam them across. Shut down the Bridge Dock and at least for a while no one would be the wiser. I mean if they start investigating maybe but its better than being beamed out in front of everyone. Its an option if they cannot get to the Dock.”

Petrov CE

Mikel awaited for the decision to be made. He was tired of being the go to go guy for saving the ship and its lackluster crew. However they needed to do something quick.

Petrov CE

Remy nodded and said quietly, “Distrac-SHON._

=^=Transporter room, lock onto de Away Team an’ prepare to beam dem back.=^=

The captain turned toward the Ops station and saw that it was unmanned to the fact the Ops officer was keeping on eye on Petrov’s design. He rushed to the station and began tapping at the controls, explaining what he was attempting to do.

“It ‘as been a while, but I used to do dis all de time when I needed to get into someplace dat was crowded. Our tech should be more dan advanced enough to get into de sta-SHONS system. I’m tryine to set off de stations alarms, show systems failures for a little misdirec-SHON. . . .”

Boudreaux managed to set off the alarms on the station. And in response, all the ships began to disembark from the station. The station was being abandoned, true to the nature of how the station was run. The station itself, seemed to start a separation process as well. Nothing like said temporary like an entire station splitting up into smaller vessels.

GM

“Do we have the Away Team. I’m losing the tractor beam” Petrov called out as the system he had rigged up crashed down.

Petrov CE

Petrov scanned the readings to see if the team had made it back.
