Kady was dressed and ready to go when Reilly arrived, her open lace covered dress (1) was over a shift of the same color. And her white sandals (2) laced up her legs nearly to her knees. Her hair was pulled back in a simple ponytail and she only had a touch of crimson on her lips for makeup.

She was sitting at her desk waiting on Reilly as she sipped on a cup of juice.

Reilly arrived two minutes early and knocked on the door, rather than ring the chime. His uniform had been changed to a light beige linen suit and vest over a white shirt. Brown leather belt and shoes completed the ensemble.

She answered a moment later and smiled in approval. “Took you long enough to ask. Maybe we need to work on your confidence?” She laughed and grabbed a matching shawl before heading into the hallway.

“So you said this was a good pasta place? I hope so. Finding good Italian off Earth is getting pretty difficult.” She walked beside him to the transporter room.

He smiled and chuckled. “I have had many complaints, my dear. But never has my confidence been subject to such slander!” he said with mock indignation.

“Well, just so happens the owner is human, and Italian at that. Retired chef from the Silver Bay Resort. Got bored of the beach, so he opened his own place.” and they stepped into the lift and went to the transporter room. He looked at the Petty Officer on duty. “Why, hello Mr. Cadsh. Good to see you. Did you check out the gift shop I told you about?” The young Bolian nodded and smiled. “Yes sir I did! Thank you! My wife will love the necklace. It was even on sale!” and Reilly clapped him on the shoulder. “Good, good. I’ll try to get that leave request in front of the Captain, ok? Dont want you missing your first burns arrival, now do we?” and he laughed. “You have the coordinates I sent?” Cadsh nodded. “Recieved and ready, Commander. Enjoy your dinner. You’re scheduled back in 4 hours.” Reilly smiled again again and said “Aye aye, Mr. Cadsh sir!” in his best pirate voice. He then turned and held his hand out to Kadence to be polite as they stepped up to the pads.

She took his hand with practiced ease. “Thank you,” she said and took her place beside him and nodded to the tech.

As they materialized, she looked around. He was of the same training and background as her. If he paid attention, he’d notice her checking out the place with a trained eye, and an appreciative one. “Definitely off the path… very nice.” She smiled at him and nodded. “Lead the way.”

They had arrived in a large square with a beautiful crystal fountain in the middle. As the water fell on the crystal, soft musical notes could be heard. And all though they were random, they were pleasant. Al four sides of the square were made of two story building nestled enclose that it seemed to be one big structure. Only decorating and colors set them apart. Reilly held his arm out and motioned to a beautiful white stucco section with lots of candlelight and soft music coming from inside. The second floor had a balcony overlooking the square, and a single table for two was set.

They made their way inside and were taken up a spiral staircase to the second floor, through another dining area, and onto the balcony. The host lit two candles and stepped back so they could be seated. Reilly stepped past her and pulled out her chair and slid it in as she sat. Taking his seat, he said “If I didn’t tell you before, allow me to do so now. You look absolutely beautiful.”

Kady snaked her arm over his with a smile. “It’s beautiful,” she said as he moved her deftly thru the few people that were scattered around. Just enough to make her know it was a good place, but not crowded like the common areas were. His hand kept hers to help her up the spiral stairs and when he pulled the chair out, she blushed once more. “Well, I can certainly say you aren’t a brute of a soldier, that’s for sure.”

His compliment nodded her head as she put her shawl over the railing beside her, within easy reach. “Thank you… I have to say you clean up very nicely as well.” She folded her arms lightly on the table and smiled. “So what do you recommend?” She was watching him and wondering just how many times he had come here to know of such an out of the way place and the owner.

He opened his mouth to answer, but a heavily accented voice rang out from inside and cut him off. “Jason!! È bello vedert!! So good to see you! It has been far too long, my friend!” said a portly man with a most amazing mustache that was waxed into curls on each side. He wore the traditional white chef’s outfit and made his way onto the balcony.

Reilly stood and and said “Mio caro amico, mi sei mancato!” and then kissed the man on each cheek. He then turned and said “Lieutenant Kadance Argona, Seniore Altodere Mageri, chef and owner. Mi papa, Signorina Kadence Argona, my business associate and friend.” Alto took her hand and kissed it and said “You are a vision… wasted on one such as this.” and he jerked a thumb at Reilly.

Reilly laughed and clapped the man on the shoulder. “Chef, we need your help. The fair maiden is in dire need of pasta. And it has to be… ” and he kissed his fingertips and then threw them open. Alto laughed and looked at Kadence. “Pasta it is. Made by me, every morning. And do you like lobster?”

She smiled graciously and accepted the hand kiss. “Please… Kadence is fine. No need for formality while relaxing.” She listened to the two and relaxed. It was nice to see those in the job they did, when they were adjusted and able to have such outside friends. It said a lot about them

When the man turned back to her, she smiled. “Lobster sounds amazing. Thank you, Senior Mageri.” She nodded in thanks.

“No no.. Alto. You call me Alto. I go and make you both homemade ravioli, stuffed with parmesan spinach and lobster in a cream sauce. Oh, and antipasto for starters. And I’ll have good bottle of wine sent up right away.” He made his way off the balcony and Reilly looked at Kadence. “I really hope you are hungry. He doesn’t make small plates.” and he chuckled.

“As you wish, Alto… that sounds amazing.” As he left, she took a sip of the water on the table and nodded. “I’m hungry enough. And leftovers certainly won’t go to waste.”

She leaned back and watched him a moment. “So how did you find this place? Obviously you’ve been here often.”
