Kadence smiled and nodded to the other folks on the shuttle as they parted ways. She wasn’t here for a vacation, per se. Though the ship she was assigned to was in the darkness above the pleasure planet, it was the ship, the Wolverine, that was her target. She had been to Risa enough times to know it was ok for some. But it wasn’t really her cup of tea. Other than going off horse back riding along a secluded beach on the South side of the resort, she wasn’t really much of a beach person. And even those rides were in the evenings around sunset.
She moved down the corridor and headed for the transporter rooms, she shouldered her bag and nodded to those she passed. This was the job she liked. A ship, on deep space rotation away from Earth’s system, full of folks with problems that were far more complicated than mere ships contended with. It drove her, the help and ear she lent to those she could.
She stepped into the transporter room and gave her orders to the Chief there. After confirming them, he nodded to the pad and a few moments later she arrived in the transporter room of the Wolverine. Her home and family for the next four years.

CounselorAs the transporter request was recieved and verified, Reilly stood and watched the pad. The Transporter Operator nodded and Reilly said “Bring her in, Mr. Franklin.” and the transporter activated.
Reilly was standing in the center if the room, hands behind his back. He was of average height, with brown hair and a handsome face. His eyes were noticeable. Bright green, and they shined when he smiled at the new arrival.
“Welcome to the Wolverine, Lieutenant. I’m Commander Reilly, the Executive Officer. The Captain wishes me to extend his apologies he cant be here to meet you, but looks forward to having you on board. Please, follow me and I will show you to your quarters.” He was professional and polite, and held himself well.

She stepped off the platform with a professional smile of her own. “Thank you, Sir. Please… feel free to call me Kadence. Easier to pronounce.” She laughed softly. “I’m sorry you had to give up your time on the surface.” She moved beside him as they headed out of the transporter room. “I’m sure I could have found my room well enough. But I appreciate it, none the less. And I am a day early, so I wouldn’t have expected him to greet me. So please send him my regards. I will see him tomorrow, I am sure.” She kept up easily with his stride soon falling into step as they moved down the almost deserted corridors.

CounselorReilly waved off the apology with a small and shake of his head. “No apologies needed, Kadence.” he said, using her name as naturally as if he had known her for years. “Having just arrived on board myself less than a week ago, I wasn’t planet side anyway. I prefer to let the crew get some extra time off if they can, anyway. Vacation doesn’t come all that often, now does it?” and he smiled at her.
They continued down the corridors, and Reilly nodded to a few of the crew they passed and called some by name and said hello. Eventually they came to her quarters. Reilly palmed the door and it opened and he held his arm towards the opening. “This is you, Kadence. Your security codes will activate as soon as you log in to your private terminal. I know you will want to get settled, but if there is anything you need, please let me know. Commander Erin is the Operations Lead, and I am sure he would happy to assist as well. Once you get your check-ins done, please make sure to let the Captain and I know when you want to start the pending evaluations. I’ll help you corral a few of the more… spirited… members of the crew.” and he laughed and smiled again.

She half tossed her bag thru the door to land near the wall along the line of the door. She glanced at him and smiled. “Well, I can think of one thing you can help with. Be honest… how good is the replicator with pasta? Shrimp Alfredo, Chicken Fetteccini, Lasagna, Scallops and White wine sauce?” She laughed. “It’s my chocolate… what can I say. Need to know if I should go to the surface to stuff myself while opportunity presents itself this evening, or if I can stay in and not be vastly disappointed.” She laughed and looked up at him as if she had confessed a great secret.

CNSReilly’s eyes flashed and he smiled and said “Well, the replicators are okay… but they aren’t Risa quality by any stretch. If you’d like, I can suggest a spot I know about. Not on a beach, and mostly locals. Fantastic pasta. I wont be so bold as to suggest I go with you, but I will ask for you to bring me back a little something if you wouldn’t mind.”
Reilly, XO
Kady’s eyes lit up and she crossed her arms and leaned back on the doorjam, keeping the panel from sliding shut. “Sooo, Commander… are you ‘not being bold’ because you met me three minutes ago, or ‘not being bold’ for some other reason?” Her smile was sly, and her head cocked slightly as if to dare him to lie to her. “Something tells me I haven’t had long enough time in your presence to intimidate you yet. At least, I hope not.”
