Kadence smiled and nodded to the other folks on the shuttle as they parted ways. She wasn’t here for a vacation, per se. Though the ship she was assigned to was in the darkness above the pleasure planet, it was the ship, the Wolverine, that was her target. She had been to Risa enough times to know it was ok for some. But it wasn’t really her cup of tea. Other than going off horse back riding along a secluded beach on the South side of the resort, she wasn’t really much of a beach person. And even those rides were in the evenings around sunset.

She moved down the corridor and headed for the transporter rooms, she shouldered her bag and nodded to those she passed. This was the job she liked. A ship, on deep space rotation away from Earth’s system, full of folks with problems that were far more complicated than mere ships contended with. It drove her, the help and ear she lent to those she could.

She stepped into the transporter room and gave her orders to the Chief there. After confirming them, he nodded to the pad and a few moments later she arrived in the transporter room of the Wolverine. Her home and family for the next four years.

As the transporter request was recieved and verified, Reilly stood and watched the pad. The Transporter Operator nodded and Reilly said “Bring her in, Mr. Franklin.” and the transporter activated.

Reilly was standing in the center if the room, hands behind his back. He was of average height, with brown hair and a handsome face. His eyes were noticeable. Bright green, and they shined when he smiled at the new arrival.

“Welcome to the Wolverine, Lieutenant. I’m Commander Reilly, the Executive Officer. The Captain wishes me to extend his apologies he cant be here to meet you, but looks forward to having you on board. Please, follow me and I will show you to your quarters.” He was professional and polite, and held himself well.

She stepped off the platform with a professional smile of her own. “Thank you, Sir. Please… feel free to call me Kadence. Easier to pronounce.” She laughed softly. “I’m sorry you had to give up your time on the surface.” She moved beside him as they headed out of the transporter room. “I’m sure I could have found my room well enough. But I appreciate it, none the less. And I am a day early, so I wouldn’t have expected him to greet me. So please send him my regards. I will see him tomorrow, I am sure.” She kept up easily with his stride soon falling into step as they moved down the almost deserted corridors.
