Reilly looked at Petrov with an odd grin on his face. “Really? Huh. I wouldn’t have suspected that a man with your education and experience would be one to just guess and make assumptions without evidence, Chief. I guess you aren’t quite as solid as I figured you would be, what with your background and all. My mistake.” and he turned and walked away, closer to the shuttle to see what he could see himself.

He bit the inside of his cheek to suppress the laugh that almost came out. Yes, he was liking Reilly better by the moment. “I say, again, it was NO’ operators error, Mr. Petrov. Mr. Parker is well-qualified to pilot, and he went by de book. Sometine outside de shuttle caused de outage an’ I wan’ to know what it was!”

Remy moved over near Reilly and lowered his voice. ‘I’ve made plenty of enemies in my life. Sec-SHON 31 beine ‘igh on de list. Dey ‘ave been quiet for a long time. I am ‘opine dis was no’ a plan to get to me.”

“Bryson, check de flight recorder. Was dere any atmospheric anomalies dat could ‘ave caused de shuttle to shut down. Check for any energy pulses comine from Risa an’ check wit’ de Risan authorities as well. If dey don’ wan’ to ‘elp, treaten to shut dem down while dis accident is investigated. I’m sure dey don’ wan’ any civilian casualties takine place.”

“I’m sure they’ll have no trouble complying after a Starfleet Captain nearly drowned..” Bryson replied. “Though I’m sure someone down there owes me a favor or two…” Commander Erin laughed.

“I need to change,” he said heading to the door. He paused and faced his officers. “One more tine. I wan’ every member of dis crew accounted for.”

Petrov did not reply to Reilly. If the man wanted to be a smart mouth then he would remember that. He would remember it well. As for the Captains assertion it was something other than operator error he was not so sure. However he would do his job and have every possibility looked at. If only to throw it back in their face if he did not find anything.

Petrov began scanning the vessel for anythng outside the norms that should be present.

Hours later, after science teams and engineering teams dived through all the data, and the shuttle was disassembled and reassembled, a report was delivered to the XO, CE, and CSO. It stated that no operator error was found, no technological or mechanical failure was found, and no external source was found. The only minor discrepancy notated in the reports was a possible nano-transporter signal, but the power registration on the signal was so small, it might be considered as background noise.

Reilly examined the report, and his brow furrowed. “That’s… weird. Nano-transporter signal? Why wou-” and he stopped as a thought occurred to him. Tapping his badge, he said =/\= Reilly to Captain. I was reviewing the report on your shuttle. What was that thing you found in there? You looked at it and then handed it off to someone. I cant remember what it was. But it was small. And it caught your attention for a second. =/\=

Remy replied, but his voice sounded distracted. =^=It was a toy. . . .a car, circa late 20th century maybe? Why do you ask?=^=

=/\= Skipper, the only thing out of the ordinary in the report was the mention of a possible nano-transporter signal. And then you found that car. Both are odd. Both, I think, deserve our attention. =/\=

=/\= Dunno, Skipper. I’ll find out. Reilly out. =/\= and he cleared the comms and set a message out across the ship. =/\= Attention all personnel. All hands who were present and worked in the shuttle bay for the retrieval of the shuttle from Risa report to the shuttle bay immediately. If anyone is in possession of anything that came from the shuttle, make sure you bring it with you. XO out.=/\= and he stood up and threw on his uniform and made his way back to the shuttle bay.
