Before making his reservations on Risa, Remy pulled up Petrov’s itinerary for shore leave. He wanted to make sure the CE was going to be nowhere near where Remy was going to be. That would definitely ruin the shore leave experience.

After confirming Petrov’s reservation, Remy made his own at the El Dorado Hotel and Resort. That should be far enough away that the chances of running into Petrov were slim to none.

He sent out a message to all command staff and department heads that he was piloting a shuttle down to the surface and anyone that wanted to, should join him for the ride.

After confirming everything was in order, he threw his packed duffel bag over his shoulder and made his way to the shuttle bay. . . .

Boudreaux (CO)

“Welcome Captain. Taking a shuttle down to Risa?” asked an NE who was cleaning the shuttle, “Do you need a pilot sir?”

GM

“Oui, ensign. Dat would be nice. I could use a relaxing trip to de surface. An’ you? What are you’ plans while on Risa?”

Boudreaux (CO)

The young Ensign blushed. “I have a Horga’hn, sir. And we’ll leave it at,” replied the Ensign. The ensign entered the shuttle, and began flight preparation sequences. “Is there anyone else joining us, sir?” asked the NE.

GM

Remy smiled as the young man stated his plans. “What ‘appens on Risa, stays on Risa, eh, ensign? Don’ worry, you’ secret is safe wit’ me.”

He slipped into the co-pilots seat and settled in. “I sent out an offer for anyone dat wanted a ride down, but it seems dey all wanted to get de leave started as soon as dey could, so. . . .looks like it’s you an’ I. Guess you can take off as soon as you are cleared.”

OOC: Lol!!! Sabretooth!! I see what you did there!! Nice!

=/\= Shuttle Sabretooth to Bridge. We’re ready to depart. =/\=

=/\= Aye Sabretooth. You are clear to launch, I took the liberty of getting your flight plan from Risian space traffic control. Transferring that data to you now. =/\=

=/\= Acknowledged Bridge, thank you. =/\=

The shuttle powered up, and the shuttle bay doors opened. The shuttle safely left the ship. As the shuttle hovered over synchronous orbit, the young Ensign said, “We have been assigned a specific time window to land. Just a couple minutes up here before we can begin our descent, sir.”

Once the wait was over, the pilot began preparations for a gentle descent. They began entering the atmosphere when suddenly, the power completely failed. The young ensign found completely dead controls, and attempted to use his comm-badge to subspace radio the ship for help. Unfortunately, there was interference – the same that caused the power to go out. As the shuttle spiraled out of control, the young ensign made quick thinking to connect an emergency power battery, which allowed the console to activate… it was only enough to adjust the trajectory to crash into one of Risa’s oceans. Luck would have it, they had crashed near an abandoned island, in semi-shallow waters.

The pair awoke to the freezing cold of the water filling in the shuttle’s cabin. The water’s impact had soften the blow to the ship as well as prevent injuries both to the Captain and the young Ensign. Though the ship might be relatively undamaged, the lack of power prevented them from doing much of anything else.

“Not how I expected to start my shore leave, sir,” said the young Ensign, “Are you alright, Captain?”

GM

Remy looked around the cabin as the water level increased. “Oui. Notine broken. You?”

He unstrapped himself from the seat and moved to the rear of the cabin as best he could. “Can you swim, ensign? Pull out the seat cushions. Dey can be used for flota-SHON devices if need be. De water does no’ look too deep, but. . . “

“Yes sir, swimming was a requirement at the Academy,” said the ensign. The ensign did what he was instructed.

He reached for the emergency kit/survival pack from the locker.

OOC: Is the water coming in through the hatch or a broken front window?

Boudreaux (CO)

The water was coming from a hole in the hull, where the shuttle took the most impact force. The window of the shuttle was still in tact, and the overhead hatch was still available to escape from. The back of the shuttle doors were inoperable, likely because the doors were blocked.

GM

Giving the control panel one final look, Remy tried to wish it back to life. When that didn’t work, he reached up to open the top hatch.

With a hiss the hatch popped open and Remy cupped his hands into a stirrup. “You first, ensign,” he ordered.

Boudreaux (CO)

“Aye sir.” The ensign climbed out. “I see an island nearby sir, I’m going to swim for it,” called the Ensign back.

Once they both reached the shore, the young Ensign said, “I believe our commbadges might still be working. We should be able to contact the ship or at least call for help.”

GM

“I ‘ope you ‘ave you’s. Mine was in my suitcase. . . on de shuttle. . .which is,” he looked to the ocean where the shuttle had landed, “now submerged.”

Remy pulled the survival kit from off his shoulders and began to rummage through it, taking stock of what was inside.

Sitting on the beach, he looked to the sky. “Go ‘head an’ try. At least we have good weader if we are gon to be ‘ere for a while. It could be worse. We could be stuck in a cave somewhere.”
