“Uhm.. no.” Shaidi gently waved her hand towards him, “I was born male, sir. Thus, after the transition, I was not impacted by female pheromones, seeing as I was not originally a woman.”

She knew it was better to tell him, to stop questioning, but it still felt awkward. “However, I’m sure I could still give human women a headache by simply talking their ears off,” She oddly joked, referencing the way the potent pheromones often gave human women severe headaches. It was a way to ease the awkwardness of her previous revelation and to keep the mood pleasant.

The captain was silent a moment before replying. He slowly nodded his head as he said, “I see. Dat would explain de lack of pheromones.”

This bit of information did surprise Remy a bit. To cover it, he poured himself another drink and offered Greve another. He accepted the fact and moved on.

“You’ Starfleet record is impressive, as is you’ medical career. To be completely ‘onest, I don’ really care if you are male, female, trans, or Human, Orion, Klingon, or Horta, even. What I do care about is dat you are competent an’ effective member of my senior staff. And just as importantly, a comfortable member of our dysfunc-SHON-al little familee here on de Wolverine. If you are able to do dat, we will get along fine, doctor.”

An anxious expression soon melted into a gentle, almost convivial smile. Having accepted the drink, she nodded to him. It was reassuring to know the Captain found experience and ethic, to overrule gender, species or personality. “Dysfunctional families are often the most closely knitted, going through all the hardships, as I have no doubt, the Wolverine faces.” Shaidi nodded.

“You ‘ave no idea, Dr.”

“I am more than willing to be a competent member of your staff, as a doctor and a Department Head. On an akin topic, my door will also always be open, in case you need anything, sir.” Shaidi meant medically and otherwise. While they had a Counselor, who would be far more helpful on the psychological front, Greve wished to make sure people knew that, despite her inability to cure the mind, she was always open to listen.

“Rest assured, doctor, I will be seeking out you’ counsel from time to time. Dere is no doubt ‘bout dat,” Remy replied.

“I ‘ave one more ques-SHON. Dough small, de Wolverine is a battleship. De sickbay is small. Mos’ of de injuries you will see, will be a result of battle, sometimes wit’ de battle still goine on. Wit’ dat beine said, I need to know ‘ow well you func-SHON in dose situa-SHONS?”

“I wouldn’t have been assigned here, if not prepared for the extent of the work that would come of your battleship, Captain.” There was a mix of confidence and respect within her voice, as if trying to assure Remy of her competence in the field. “Not to mention, it is only chaos, sir. Regardless of the atmosphere, healing the wounded is always the same. You are there to ensure they are assisted by any means necessary, and to give each the care they deserve. Stress is a given, regardless of the state of the world around you.”
