The trip to Earth had been relatively uneventful which was just the way Alita had preferred it. For her part, things between her and Remy sometimes became very intense and she enjoyed being in his company when things were more relaxed. She still had no idea how she was going to introduce him to the family but the words would come when they were needed.

Now they stood at the top of the drive as the sun was rising, just looking down on the old house.

“Okay, so, once I open this gate, there’s no turning back old man.” she said quietly.

Remy smiled and squeezed Alita’s hand. “Chile, in all de time de Boudreauxs ‘ave been in existence, dere ‘as NEVER been one to back down from a challenge or adventure. In fact, it was for dat very reason I an’ my broter Merlion, ended up in de Academy. Never backed down an’ dere is no reason to start now.”

He waited for Alita to open the gate, stepped through and puller her through behind him. . . .
