“So you recommend to us the worst possible way to travel home and then it goes bad and you cut and run? I can tell you this right now this is not my mess and I will not fix her mess for her.” Petrov said turning to Wells. ” Sure cut it out or take the whole ship to R&D and study it for years to come.”

Petrov was seeing a way off the ship after all. Scuttle the darn thing.

“It’s unfortunately above my pay grade. You’ll have to file your complaint with Starfleet Command and Starfleet Engineering. That and this unexpected behavior is out of my realm of expertise. I was only advised on some basics and how to fix the drive if it broke,” replied Wells, “The drive being stuck part of the ship was not something they covered.”

Through everything that had happened over the last few minutes, several things had become clear to Alita. She trusted Remy, the Captain, and wanted to leave it at just that but it was very difficult for her to do so. Surprisingly, Cel’s presence on the bridge was very comforting to her. Perhaps they were becoming a type of family also. She was also highly suspicious of everything involving this experimental technology. It sounded like deliberate sabotage but, at the moment, she didn’t trust herself to speak out on the matter.

Alita, MO/COS

Mikel was half expecting some support for his rebuke. He was more interested in a final solution to his dilemma of being on a ship he did not want to be part of.

“Well I for one don’t feel safe with that thing being fused onto the ship.” Commander Erin announced as he turned his head towards the CE. “I would let you cut it out yourself, Lieutenant Petrov, but I don’t think Starfleet would want their ship compared to Swiss cheese.” Bryson stated half jokingly.

XO

“EDDIE, take de II Drive offline, shut it down. . . whatever you ‘ave to do to keep it from being used. Right now, dere is not’ine we can do ‘bout de drive, ‘cept keep from usine it. Lt. Claire, I wan’ security posted to it 24/7.”

=/\= It would be my absolute pleasure, Captain! Initiating shutdown procedures now! Shutdown of the drive will complete in 30 minutes as the super plasma will take that long to cool properly and for the system to be completely flushed. =/\=

“Cmdr. Wells, I assume you ‘ave de names of de people an’ can contact dem to investigate dis. . . issue. I wan’ an R&D team onboard as soon as we reach drydock. Dat will give everyone some down time to process dis mis-SHON. Seek out de Counselor if you must, put in for transfers if you must,” Remy said, looking directly at Petrov, “bu’ remember, each of you signed on to Starfleet to boldly go where no one ‘as gone before.”

“Captain, that would be Lt. Ford Prefect, who is the inventor of this drive, and Admiral Otto, Starfleet Engineering, Research and Development division,” replied Wells.

Cmdr. Erin, you ‘ave de conn,” the Captain finished with and made his way to the Ready Room.

Boudreaux (CO)

Petrov shook his head as if to say he had not expected much else. Transfer request coming right up.

Mado wasn’t technically a bridge officer, nor had anyone asked him to stay on the bridge. So with the action subsiding, he headed over to the turbolift figuring that it was about time to write an official report. As he made his exit he thought about the captain’s statement and wondered how long he himself was to be posted to the ship, or what exactly he was even to be investigating. He supposed that it in the end it didn’t matter much. None of his assignments over the last ten years really did.

Lt. Mado (FSA)

Commander Erin watched as the various officers left the Bridge before walking over to the center chair and taking a seat. “Nothing to do but wait....” Bryson said to Petrov, who surprisingly didn’t yet leave the Bridge.

“I’m sure you’ll have a lot to write in your report later, Lieutenant?” The XO asked.

Erin (XO)

“I think that I have a choice. A really concise report with just the big details or one with all the little problems included.” Petrov said. Implying to the XO he was debating in his own head which way to go. She should know by now he was not the Captain’s biggest fan.

Petrov CE

Bryson shrugged at Petrov’s response. The XO couldn’t disagree on the reasons the why CE was mad, but he could think of other ways to direct that anger. Starfleet had its own reasons for the mission and the Captain had his own reasons for why he commanded it the way he did. Commander Erin knew to trust both directions, and only hoped both lead them in the right direction.

Erin (XO)

“Preparing to dock with Starbase 1,” announced the helmsman, “Per the Earth traffic controller.”

GM

Mikel shrugged at the XO and then picked his head up when the Dock Master called in.

“We are good. Nothing preventing us from using impulse and then thrusters to dock.” He reported.

Thank goodness they still had something left after that driver had fused with his engines.

Petrov CE

“Mister Petrov, would you like to meet the Engineers about to board?” The XO said, turning to the CE. “I wouldn’t trust anyone who didn’t know the ship to be in charge of the repairs anyway…” That much was true. When he was CO of the Olympic, Bryson would always keep a more senior engineer around to assist with a Starbase repair team.

XO

“Yes but I do want my shore leave time as well on the Black Rock. I have things that need to be done. So I will meet with them and go over their plans. Then rotate staff to watch over things and not allow anyone to go past the parameters I have set.” He answered.

Mikel had nothing personal against Bryson. As far as he could tell the man’s primary flaw was believing in the Captain.

Petrov CE

OOC: Not sure if there is more to do in this thread or not.

Sidney

OOC: Probably not. The NE Engineers should be boarding the ship right about now.

Mikel went to Engineering before he planned to go to the Black Rock. He arrived to find the SB engineers arriving.

“Who is in charge of this team?” He barked.

Petrov CE

“Lt. (j.g.) Markov, sir,” said Markov, “I’ve been temporarily assigned here for the removal of the extra systems… save the funky one that got embedded into the ship.”

GM

“Funky? Is that the official SF Engineering term? Just get to it. Anything you do to the ship return it per spec. You will not be leaving until it is.” Petrov threatened.
