Ok thought Mikel. The XO had not jumped him yet and shut him down. So there must be curiosity or doubt there somewhere. The ball was in the Captains side of the playing field now. The COS as she was currently did not look very official and her comments did not help her case. Petrov would play the high road for now.

Ahearn shook his head and looked down at the table. A soft laugh escaped his lips, and he then leaned far back in his chair and looked at the ceiling. “I find it fascinating that we have come this far with a crew so adamantly set on fighting with each other and keeping grudges.” in his whimsical-sounding Irish accent. He then looked at the table in general. “So are we going to try’an find a way to fix our prepubescent crew and get back to dealing with whatever in the Nine Hells we are supposed to be dealing with? Or are we gonna just sit around and wait for one of us to pull a shiv and then see what body parts land where? ‘Cause honestly, I tink I’d rather just head back to my lab and let you all sort out your drama.”

“Well isn’t that my point Lt. What are we supposed to be doing here? Because if we cannot truthfully answer that one then I think we are stuck at square one.” Petrov said looking at the CO. “Then why does the separate problems wrapped into one solution. There is no proof they are entwined. We should proceed with them separately and I think getting us home safely is the first priority. I am sure SF Science can do more at an advanced facility for our stricken compatriots then we can here in this time and place.”

Petrov put on his best and most sincere face. However even if SF Science could fix it the COS would be gone and replaced as that happened.

Alita decided to remain silent. Ahern most definitely had a point. Calling Petrov at every chance was taking up valuable time and she would be able to handle things better after being returned to her right mind and body.

Petrov, himself, might have had a point but she would rather melt the insincere ice bear than concede that fact out loud.

After hours of deliberating and discussion which lead nowhere, the meeting ended. Petrov hadn’t answered Wells call, since the meeting didn’t yield a decision. As the senior staff mulled around in the Ready Room, they heard a doorbell, and found Wells entering the room. “Lt. Petrov, I called you but you didn’t answer. Is there a problem?” asked Wells, “And oh, if you are wondering, the experimental drive is ready for your inspection and I have ordered the computer not to engage it without my and your permission. I also have an ensign guarding it and told the ensign to keep off limits from it.”

Two minutes after she spoke her statement, EDDIE contacted both Lt. Petrov, Commander Wells and the Captain. =/\= Hi! This is EDDIE! I am happy to report that the Improbability Impossibility Drive is at critical failure and is threatening the safety of the ship! I am also happy to report that command shutdown overwrite will not engage! There is an unknown error that was not previously detected in the last system diagnostics, I really wish I could help identify it! The drive will go critical in 30 seconds, unless it’s engaged! Do I have your permission? =/\=

It was that moment that the Captain doubled over in pain, collapsed and fell unconscious. Improbable impossibilities indeed… Whatever odd quirks of the reality of the universe was happening, it was deciding that this was the moment. Which meant that if they wanted anything to happen correctly with the infinite improbability drive, that would be at that very moment.
