Wells returned to Engineering. She re-activated EDDIE, who was shut down due to the baryon sweep. “EDDIE, run a self-diagnostic systems check. Once complete, verify that the II drive is free of baryon particles, and initiate tea-based fusion. Also verify that there are no external or additional particles within the II drive components. If the II drive is not free of baryon particles or requires any neutralization of foreign particles, please alert me immediately and do not proceed any further.”

“That is an affirmative, Helena! I’d be happy to do what you asked and I will let you know immediately if anything is wrong and stop what I’m doing if anything is wrong!”

Wells initiated an anti-baryon sweep of the II drive components just to be sure. She wasn’t taking any chances with the II drive… anything odd would be improbably disastrous.

About that time Petrov’s team arrived. One officer saw Well’s and com badged Petrov.

Petrov answered. He needed time to get to the Captain first.

Several hours later… about the time that the senior staff had concluded its meeting with the Captain in the Ready Room, Wells contacted the Captain.

=/\= Wells to Captain Boudreaux, the II drive is ready to use, after the Chief Engineer’s final checks and clearances once he arrives back in Engineering. All systems have been triple checked by myself personally… and while I assure you the drive is in perfect condition, I would like to remind you that the drive is highly experimental and has the potential to be dangerous. I have, however, been well informed and briefed on the drive’s operation, its quirks and how to deal with its side effects. =/\=
