An hour passed before one of his Engineers began the wiring process. Another 15 minutes passed before Engineering access was established. If Petrov were to tap into the security systems, he could see Wells in Cargo Bay 1, sitting down with the rest of the crew, reading a PADD. Her back was faced to the camera, so the PADD contents were in clear view. What he found on the PADD was a novel, “The Lord of the Flies” after asking the computer for an analysis of the visible text.

“What the heck is she up too. I’m not buying it.” He said lowly to himself.
He scanned the engineering readings for anything that indicated foul play was at hand. He even went over the smaller details to see if the ruse was not hidden somewhere.
Petrov *being less than trusting as usual.
All indications showed that all control was being handled by Bridge officers, the one healthy Engineer and the Chief Science Officer. No external interface was set up beyond the one that Petrov had set up currently. He didn’t detect anything odd or anomalous. The sweep was progressing slowly through the ship. He watched the CO and XO speak with Wells, and from her seated position, she spoke up to both officers, and had put the PADD on the ground, face up. The PADD still contained the novel. In fact, Petrov would discover Wells had nothing to do with the baryon sweep at all, and she barely offered any of her help.

Mikel was stubborn. Once a conviction had gotten into his head it was hard to get out. Especially if that conviction was that someone else was a threat to him in any way. However he was becoming convinced, by evidence no less, that he might have been wrong.
“When am I clear to go see the Captain?” He asked the medical tech.
