“Commander Helena G. Wells,” chirped the computer.GM
It took a second for the computers answer to sink in but when it did he saw things clearer. Wells is a temporal agent at best and at worst not even SF. She could really be anyone from anytime. His instinct as a SF officer was to contact the Captain or XO. However this was an unusual turn of events.
“Computer classify that information you just gave me. No one higher than my position can access it.” He ordered. At least this way only someone higher than himself would need to stumble on the same info and conclusions on their own which was unlikely. He had some time to think on how this might help him.
=^=Petrov to Wells. I need to speak to you in person. Its.....extremely urgent.=^=
Petrov wanted to test the waters. No other way to do it.
Petrov CE
=/\= On my way. =/\=
Within minutes, Wells showed up.
“Yes, Lieutenant Petrov, what is it?” asked Wells.
GM
” You have anything to say Ms. Twain?” He said holding up the watch. He hoped she knew better than to try and keep up the ruse.
“Ms. Twain? My last name is Wells. And that, is clearly, not mine,” said Wells. She looked at Petrov and studied his facial expression.
“Exactly how did you come up with this conclusion that I’m Ms. Twain instead of Ms. Wells?” asked Wells.
“You say you found the watch near the II drive, so you concluded it was mine?” asked Wells.
“And since the watch had the name of Samuel Clemens, you assumed that I was Mark Twain and then inquired the computer whether anyone from the 18th century was on board the ship?”
“My history is complicated, Mr. Petrov. Sufficient to say, I am actually the famed 18th century science fiction author HG Wells but I used my brother’s photographs because in the 18th century, a female author, let alone a female science fiction author was unheard of. Through several remarkable inventions involving cryostasis, you could say I time traveled to the 24th century,” said Helena G. Wells, “And that, is all I am willing to reveal about my personal past.”
GM
“Oh thats all. Well no bombs there.” He said sarcastically. “Well I think there is more to say on why we are really here then. Because if your selling me on the fact our misión is really what you told us it was then I am not buying it.”
Petrov CE
“It is not my job to convince you of that fact, Lieutenant Petrov. The orders were verified by Captain Boudreaux and Commander Erin before we left. I have no means of proving you that the orders are valid as we’re in the past,” said Wells, “Besides, it was next to the II drive… the highly experimental drive that I do not know what every improbable side effects are,” said Wells.
GM
“Your not Wells. From what I can see that person is false like everything else you are saying. I seriously doubt the Captain knows your H.G. Wells from the Earths distant pass. That watch has your DNA on it.” Petrov rattled off. He knew it did not exactly have her DNA, at least he could not prove that at the moment. However it was likely hers. No one else from that time line was on the ship that the computer picked out.
“Lets talk about what you can do for me Wells.” He said flipping the topic.
Petrov CE
Wells sighed. “Get a medical tricorder and proof it, Mr. Petrov. Otherwise, you are just spouting nonsense,” said Wells.
GM
” If its not yours then whose? How is it here?” Petrov asked. He was not going to let her sidestep more answers. There had to be an advantage to gain from all this. He always found one.
Petrov CE
“The simple answer is I don’t know. And I frankly don’t care if you don’t believe me or not,” said Wells, “But I am fully prepared to consent for you run a DNA analysis on the object and my DNA to confirm whether there is a match.”
GM
She was darn confident of it or she was playing her hand well.
“What say we go and speak to the Captain and XO about all this?” He said to see if she blinked.
Petrov, CE
“Certainly, if you are willing to leave the confines of your well-protected bubble from the disease still rampant through the ship,” said Wells, “I noticed that the computer instructed me through some decontamination protocols to enter Engineering.”
GM
Petrov had momentarily forgot about that. She was calling his bluff.
“So your trying to tell me you have no problem with the Captain knowing your a sham and most likely so is this whole mission. I think not.” He replied back disregarding her last. He needed to get back on the offensive.
Petrov CE
“Perhaps we should go down to sickbay and have your ears examined, if you didn’t hear me correctly the first time?” said Wells, “While we are there, perhaps they can give something for your paranoia.”
Wells sighed. She tapped her comm-badge.
=/\= Wells to Captain Boudreaux. Please activate your secure station in your ready room and connect with the terminal in the Chief Engineer’s office. =/\=
GM
Had he just been outplayed. Ok lets roll with it. He would make this about his concern for the ship and the crew. This was not the first time he had to take a blow and give one back.

GM
OOC: OOOps!!
A moment later, Remy’s voice came over the comm. =^=De line is secure, Commander. What is de issue? Please tell me dere is no problem wit’ de II drive.”
Boudreaux (CO)
=/\= No, Captain, but there is something wrong with your crew – trust apparently on your crew is a highly valued commodity that isn’t easily earned. Your Chief Engineer believes both that I and the mission in question are fake. And since we’re already in the past, there isn’t a legitimate way to verify the orders. Would you care to explain to your Chief Engineer why I shouldn’t be thrown in the Bridge now? By the way, he discovered that I was born in the 18th century, and believes I am Mark Twain. Though that is rather illogical considering Mr. Twain is male, and I’m clearly a female. I believe the USS Enterprise-D’s logs have a physical record of Mr. Twain that should be in the database. =/\=
GM
=^=Captain Well’s is again attempting to deceive you as I believe she has been doing all along. we discovered a watch that was trapped in the drive. It was from the 18th century and had 18th century DNA on it. Furthermore the computer confirmed to me that the only person on this ship with 18th century DNA was Wells. I don’t claim she is Mark Twain but she is obviously not the person she claims to be either. She now claims to be the early earth fiction writer HG Wells, who btw is male. So either time travel has made her insane or she is lying to us. I must question her motivations and as she is the impetus for this mission I must question the real reason for this mission. I think you should as well.=^=
She wasn’t the only one who could use facts in whatever way they wanted.
Petrov CE
If Petrov and Wells could see through the comm, they would see Remy do a face palm, then brush his hair back out of his face. =^=Mr. Petrov, I appreciate you’ concern, but I ‘ave ‘ad dis almos’ exact conversa-SHON wir’ Cmdr. Wells myself. If you would like to voice you’concerns formally, I invite you an’ de Commander to join me in my ready room, so we might discuss tines face-to-face, no?=^=
Boudreaux (CO)
“Shall we go, Lieutenant? Or do you wish to wait until the infection across the ship is eliminated?” asked Wells.
GM
“If the Captain is aware of all of this then I guess there is not much to say..at this time.. concerning it. prefer to remain where I am as much to the crew as possible. Which is right here in engineering.” He said while leaving the mic open for the Captain to hear it as well.
He was trying to issue a veiled threat while positioning himself as possibly the only one who “cared” for the safety of the crew. Which would look good if there was an iquiry concerning the whole thing. especially if it went from bad to worse.
Petrov CE
“You are aware of Lt. Ahearn’s plan to use a baryon sweep across the ship, are you not?” asked Wells.
GM
He was not and he did not say one way or the other.
Petrov CE
=Dat is correct, Petrov. As soon as I ‘ave de green light for Mr. Ahearn, I am orderine ALL crew to de cargo bay while de sweep is in progress. Teoretically, dis should rid de ship of de infec-SHON.=^=
Boudreaux (CO)
