Ensign McGarvey was just down the hall from the shuttle bay. He had already confirmed on his trip down that several enlisted were securing the water drums the Captain had ordered.

=^=Ensign McGarvey to Ensign Voq. Please, report to the shuttle bay as per the Captain’s request for you to join me in the shuttle should we have the oppurtunity to trade with the other ship, making sure the water maintains an uncontaminated state is a high priority for the current situation.=^= He stated calmly and awaited a reply.

As he entered the shuttlebay he saw the last of the containers being secured in the shuttle. He walked over to inspect but he would want the science officer to validate that everything was done in a proper method past this point.

He instead took a seat at the pilot’s controls and started making sure all systems were functioning properly. He wanted to be ready to go as soon as Voq could validate the water was contaminant free so the moment the Captain gave the word they could be on their way to the Trader.

=/\= Bridge here, Mr. McGarvey. The Captain is talking with the trader now. Please standby. Has Ensign Voq arrived in the shuttle? =/\=

GM

OOC: Trinity is currently on LOA, so I’ll just fill in here a bit until she gets back.

IC: The doors to the shuttle bay opened and an ensign weering science blues approached. If McGarvey was expecting a female Trill scientist to join him, he’d be surprised to see the tall, lanky, human male approach with a PADD and tricorder in hand.

McGarvey was mildly surprised but not completely and the small infraction of surprise never showed on his face or his body language.

“Ah, McGarvey, right? I’m Ne Nye, the science guy. Auzria in finishing up an experiment in the lab. She said to tell you she’d be ready to go with you as soon as Capt. Beaudreaux gave the word. In the meantime, I’m here to check. . . . .what, exactly?”

Nye looked in the rear of the shuttle and saw the water barrels. He gave a long whistle. “That’s a lot of water. What’s it for?”

NE Nye (Science)

“Well, Mr. Nye, it’s for trade, but we have to make sure that the water is properly quarantined away from those in the shuttle and completely free of all and any of the contaminants making people sick. I’ve started setting a shield to quarantine the storage area, but I’d like you to make sure that I’ve calibrated it correctly and bridge crew recommended setting up low level radiation on the water to kill any pollutants, obviously not too much to make the water undrinkable.” As he said all this he was already going back to making sure his pre check list was complete. He would hate to overlook some detail and make the mission go south.
OOC: I hope I remembered everything that we were supposed to do, and I love that I’m working with the science guy.

-Ensign Peter “Wraith” McGarvey (Security)

OOC: I’m back! Apologies about that wait. :P

IC: Voq had been held captive by the hands of experimentation in the science labs. Although it were not an uncommon event, it was particularly irritating when you knew you had someone waiting on you. Not that the decontamination of water sounded all too interesting, but she knew it was far more important than it sounded. Once finished up in the labs, the Trill quickly grabbed a tricorder and headed from the labs. Within minutes, she slipped through the departing doors of the shuttlebay, catching sight of the Security Officer and his… science-y friend.

“Apologies about that wait,” Auzria remarked, nodding to McGarvey. “You must be McGarvey.” She offered a small smile to the opposing officer, “Auzria Voq,” she remarked, sticking out a hand in greeting.

He shook the outstretched hand with his own, his calloused hand much larger than the science officer’s.
“Ensign Peter McGarvey” He said simply, ackowledging her correct assumption as to his identity.

“Pleasure, McGarvey.” Auzria’s crooked smile remained, as she retracted her hand. Turning her head, she caught sight of Nye and chose to approach the science guy.

“Thank you for taking care of this until I could arrive, Nye. I appreciate it. But, if you don’t mind, I can take it from here.” She nodded to the fellow scientist, slight gratitude in her gesture.

As the two science officers discussed the sciency side of the situation, McGarvey decided to physically do a once over of the ship, not that he expected to find anything out of place but as the one piloting the vessel he was not one to take chances.

-Ensign Peter “Wraith” McGarvey (Security)

“Level 1 diagnostic complete. All systems functioning within normal parameters.”

GM

Once complete with their discussion, Voq made her way over to Peter. “Is everything set?” She asked, glancing over the shuttle.

=/\= Shuttlecraft, this is Ensign Smith at Ops. I’m duplicating the current transmission with the alien trader. You’ll be on passive communications only =/\=

GM

=/\=Understood Smith.=/\= McGarvey simply stated. Now was the waiting game. It was largely up to the Captain to see if a deal could be struck. I just hope that our health holds out was McGarvey’s primary thought.

-Ensign Peter “Wraith” McGarvey (Security)

With a quaint nod, she considered what Smith had said. Patience had never been a virtue of Voq’s, but it was important, now more than ever. “How long do you think, until we know if the trade holds out?” Voq prompted conversation, standing beside the water to make certain the low-level radiation field had been set up properly, to inhibit any contamination to the water.

  • Voq

“Preparing the data for send off, Captain.” Bryson stated his position. “Once we retrieve his data, I’ll begin sending over what we have.” The Commander gave a quick glance towards Mado. Cmdr. Erin didn’t have a clue on why the Federation felt the need to send him. Bryson needed to introduce himself, but at another time.

=/\= Bridge to Shuttlecraft Deadpool. You are cleared for launch. =/\=

With Ens. Voq keeping an eye on the 50 gallons of water, McGarvey eased the shuttle out of the bay and into space. It’s destination? The trading vessel hovering off the Wolverine’s bow.

As McGarvey’s adept control moved to the traders stern, he would see the cargo bay doors opening for his approach. . . .

Boudreaux (filling in for the Wraith)

The alien vessel’s bay doors opened.

=/\= Shuttlecraft, please power down your engines. Our automated landing systems will guide your craft in. =/\= said a voice that was not Mr. Melnorm, but presumably one of his crew.

A tractor beam locked on, and slowly pulled the vessel into the ship.

Three robots greeted the craft.

=/\= Shuttlecraft, the bay is depressurized and will remain that way. Please depressurize your cargo hold and allow our robots to retrieve the cargo. We will leave the data module in your cargo hold. =/\=

Auzria left the diplomacy to McGarvey, taking that time to depressurize their hold on the water, allowing for the aliens’ retrieval.

Once the instructions were followed, the robots removed the water.

=/\= Shuttlecraft, our systems will lead you out of our vessel. =/\=

The same landing system with the tractors safely guided the craft out of the ship. Moments later, the shuttlecraft would detect a surge of baryon radiation where the shuttle had just landed.

GM

“Baryon levels have spiked,” Voq glanced over at McGarvey. She knew Baryon particles often accumulated as a result of warp travel, but the shuttle had no reason to go to warp. “Baryon radiation is usually used for the Temecklian virus, but they already removed the water.” Baryon, like any kind of related particle, was harmful to organic beings under excessive exposure.

“Must be their own precautions,” said McGarvey, “Mr. Melnorm did say they were extremely cautious in bringing in cargo and exporting cargo.”

GM

“You’re probably right. But,” Auzria retrieved the tricorder she’d used to analyse the cargo before their departure. “Just to keep tabs,” She shrugged.

“Shall we?” Voq gestured to the exit, assuming these people didn’t fancy their time being wasted.

OOC: Uh, the ship left the alien ship. You should be on your way back to the Wolverine now… with the data module.
