Alita liked the way Cel was thinking and would certainly make note of it if she ever got around to writing the report Remy would probably want.

“Hmmm, but what’s more favorable to this pathogen?” she asked.

“That is assuming that the pathogen is intelligent and is specifically targeting people,” said Wells, “I believe it doesn’t have a specific goal other than roaming around the ship until it can find a body to infect.”

Celador shook his head. “I’m thinking more along the lines of a mouse to a mouse trap. There is obviously something about us that attracts it. If we can find out what that is, we can simulate a more tempting place for it.”

“Again, Ensign, a mouse has intelligence. This bacterial-viral combination does not. Granted, it does consume food and procreate, but it would not actively seek out food specifically or hide specifically for the mere act of it. It more likely wanders aimlessly until it encounters something,” said Wells.

Alita frowned a bit.

“I like your idea but I’m not certain it would work. Viri and bacterium don’t simply vacate, they spread. So wouldn’t we be causing more of a problem?” she asked in frustration.

“Aye. And we don’t have the time to go looking for a better hotel room for the little bastards. We need to kill it, here and now.” and then he scowled and said =/\= Computer. Identify any spaces on the ship that can protect personnel from baryon energy. =/\=

OOC: Great. It’s nice to know that all the technical specs from the WeBBSpace are unavailable… sigh Oh well, that just means more limiting options for the crew.

“None at the moment,” chirped the computer, “Field diverters can be established to protect certain areas of the ship from baryon sweep.”

Celador just shrugged his shoulders then found a dark portion of the wall to lean against. While he was confidant he was right, he wasn’t a scientist so had no place in this discussion.

Ahearn scowled. Jabbing at his comm badge, he said =/\= Science to Engineering. What would be the time frame on getting field diverters set up in the cargo bay to protect from a baryon sweep? =/\=

Alita looked at Ahern.

“Cel and I will do it our damned selves if we need to.” she snapped.

Cel continued to lean against he bulkhead. He had said his peace and was shot down for his idea. He was feeling rather calm at the moment, although who knew how long that would last.

=/\= Please get with the Chief Engineer and set that up. Science will assist as needed. =/\= Ahearn replied.

He then tapped his badge and said =/\= CSO to Bridge. Captain, we need to decontaminate the ship as a whole. We have developed a plan of sorts for that. Engineering will set up field generators in the cargo bays. We can put all personnel there while we run a baryon sweep through the ship. While that happens, we can use the inoculation on the crew to either hep protect them or treat them as is necessary. Once the sweep is done, we can release the crew and then run the baryon sweep through the cargo bays. With your permission, Captain, we need to get his done as soon as we can. =/\=

“Please excuse me, I have something to check on the Bridge,” said Wells.

Cel’s eyes narrowed when Wells made the comment.

‘Odd’ Squared stated simply

‘Yeah’ Celador thought back. ‘Could be nothing, but Let’s not forget that.’

‘Agreed’ Squared replied.

Ahearn began running the calculations for how long and at what levels the sweep would need to be set for.

The computer calculated a standard sweep would take approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes. The sweep would be set for low level – enough to kill the foreign agents.

Alita felt she was doing a very good job at remaining patient but was another 6 hours of this really necessary?

“Please tell me there’s something I can do to assist you. Anything that will safely speed this up Chief.”

She had to stop talking because the petulant little boy voice was coming back and she could sense that it got on everybody’s nerves.

“You cannot speed up decontamination. If we did that, we would risk doing more harm than good.” Auzria pointed out, returning at the rear end of their conversation. “Have you gotten any sleep since the switch? Eaten anything?” Alita was in the body of a pubescent boy, she could only assume the hunger and irritability followed.

“So we are just supposed to sit down, shut up and wait then?” Cel piped in irritably from the back wall.

Alita should have had a clue of what the Ensign was trying to get at and, as luck would have it, her stomach did decide to grumble audibly at that moment.

“I don’t want to sleep because I think waking up like this would scare the hell out of me, no offense Cel. As far as eating goes, I can’t wait to cook a seven course meal for the whole damned ship but, I guess, we should probably eat something now.” Alita said in resignation.
