Change. It was something that Greve was no stranger to, both physical and mentally. She was the epitome of change, in more ways than one. Finding that change was the essential process of all life and existence, she knew that she should welcome it as a friend rather than the enemy, which she had, for quite some time. Now, as she stood within the sleek hallways of the Wolverine, she knew this was going to be a change that she liked. Hardly being new to the medical field, Greve could make her way around the bay easily, the change was simply within the new assignment.. the new beginning.

Clasping her hands behind her back, nails painted a faint maroon which matched her fiery red hair, she made her way to the office of the commanding officer. Upon first glance, she was a peculiar creature. Broad, green toned shoulders accompanied a lanky, almost masculine body. Her facial structure still showed signs of the previous gender she had identified with, her voice a rich baritone, slowly growing higher pitched with the coming days. Despite this universe being far more accepting to people such as her, now, she still could not help but feel queer, as there were still those who shunned her people, more than they welcomed them.

Sighing, softly, she paused before the doors, placing her hand against the chime, to notify the Captain of her arrival. She had no idea if she was expected, so she chose to hold a calm demeanor, prepared for both sides of the odd spectrum. Straightening the hem of her uniform, she adjusted the pips on her collar, allowing her hands to fall back to her sides, resting motionlessly and limp, as she waited from the response within.

As the chime sounded, Remy turned from the window. He had been gazing at the the expanse of stars in his field of view, contemplating what Starfleet had in store next for the Wolverine and her crew.

He stopped halfway around as he caught site of the Orion female(?) assigned as the new Chief Medical officer. His first thought went back to his last interaction with Orion females. It had been soon after he had been given command of the Vanguard. His first mission as her CO, and the ship had been blown out from underneath him bu a Ferengi battle cruiser. All because, he wanted to do the humanitarian thing and NOT let the Orion clones into the clutches of the lascivious Ferengi. If the females were full grown adults, there wouldn’t have been much of a problem, but the clones only had the intellect of children and turning them over to their “owners” as sex slaves was wrong on so many levels.

It had cost Remy his first ship and a number of crew, but he would have done the same thing again, because it was the RIGHT thing to do. Other than the losses to ship and crew, things seemed to have worked out–he was given command of the brand new, shiny USS Wolverine.

The look of confusion on his face faded and was replaced by a charming, half-crooked grin. He stepped forward and nodded. “Dr. Shaidi, welcome to de Wolverine.”

“Thank you, Captain.” The Doctor offered a gentle response, inclining her head to the opposing man. She had noticed the confusion within his gaze, but she could not bring herself to ask why it had been there. After all, it wasn’t her place to pry in what wasn’t hers to know.

After she returned the acknowledgement, he indicated the new CMO should sit in front of the desk, while Remy moved around behind and took his seat. As he spoke, one would notice (if one was familiar with it), his thick Cajun accent.

Greve was familiar with very few Terran accents, North Western, Eastern and Cajun being the ones she could recognize. After all, the only time she spent on Earth, was strictly in what human knew as the United States of America, or so they were historically called. Giving a nod of her head, Shiadi sat down in the indicated seat, crossing one leg over the other.

After sitting down, he reached into a drawer and pulled out two classes and a bottle filled wth a dark amber liquid. “It is a custom of mine to share a drink wit’ my new department ‘eads when dey come aboard. I ‘ope you fin’ Kentuck-EE bourbon to you’ likine?”

Shiadi was not your ordinary Orion female, fortunately for her, and the people around her, she did not possess the same pheromones which made up the sheer reason why most people tended to despise the green-skinned creatures who found their way from the planet of Orion’s Belt. This, she found, would be better for both sides of any situation, especially if they were worried about that fact or Orion women, whenever they went anywhere near the masculine gender.

“Certainly. I cannot say I’ve ever had it, but I am always open to try.” Greve chuckled, her somewhat baritone voice offering an odd sound to it. She had never had the time to drink, and thus had tried selected brands of alcohol. The classic Saurian Brandy, being the one she recalled most vividly, mostly for the peculiar taste. She could remember distinctly thinking, ‘How is there love in this poison?’ But that was the most of the night that she could remember, as the rest had faded to the darkened confines of peculiar brain.

Shaking the thoughts from her head, she returned her gaze to the man, watching as he poured the drinks, with faint curiosity overcoming the previous anxiety that trickled into her unnaturally colored eyes. Soon her tight lipped expression had turned to a partially relaxed smile, as she grew more aware of her surroundings.

After he poured the glasses half-full, Remy offered one to Greve and held his own in the air. Inclining his head, he said, “To my new Chief Medical Officer.”

Greve thanked him, taking the glass and holding it up, as if reciprocating his actions. “To you and your ship,” She mused, drinking the shot. Setting the shot down, a quirky grin replacing most of her anxiety.

After slamming the shot, he sat back down behind his desk and studied the new CMO intently. The Orion woman would be able to tell the CO was concentrating on some aspect of her appearance. When he spoke, it became clear.

“I am no’ sensine any reac-SHON to de pheromones, Lt. Dey are beine suppressed, no?”

Boudreaux (CO)

“Ah.. no, sir.” A soft, slightly awkward chuckle escaped her lips, as she glanced down at the table before returning her gaze to him. She wasn’t certain how she was supposed to say this, or whether or not it would be wise to. Contemplating this, she chose the ‘vague’ route. “They.. don’t exist, Captain.”
