OOC: Time skip to after the various evals.
IC:After what felt like a marathon of evaluations, Mado still had one more officer to meet with, the Chief of Security. Looking over his personal PaDD, he could see her public file, a Ms. Alita Claire. Unfortunately, he did not have access to the wealth of data the FSA would have in just a hundred years from now, but he still had access to “present day files.” The file on Claire didn’t contain much, but it seemed that the COS was rather young for her post. It was of no consequence to him.
Sliding his Padd back into his satchel, he made his way to the security offices. Brushing a few strands of white hair away from his face and adjusting his FSA insignia, he chimed for an entry.
Lt. Mado (FSA)
It was just before Alita was going to break for a quick dinner when she heard the chime.
“Enter.” she called out, salmon would have to wait.
- Alita, MO/COS
The door swished open and a middle-aged man in what appeared to be a Federation intelligence uniform walked in.
“Good evening. Are you Lieutenant Claire?”
Mado wasted no time introducing himself, “I am Andreas Mado. I am an officer of the Federation Security Agency, and I have been assigned to this vessel. I presume you were alerted to my arrival?”
The pale man kept his hands at his sides, one gripping a small satchel. As he awaited a reply, Mado’s face carried an eerie smile; It was the only kind he knew how to make.
Lt. Mado (FSA)
Alita’s green eyes took in the stranger. A smile might have been eerie but it didn’t bother her.
“Of course I was alerted to your arrival, and even if I hadn’t been officially, the ship is quite small. Please, take a seat. Federation Security Agency hmm? Forgive my ignorance, but are you some stunted branch of Internal Security?” Alita asked intentionally letting her youth show.
- Alita, MO/COS
The man let out a slight chuckle. “Stunted indeed, Lieutenant.” Mado composed himself for a moment, before figuring out how to best summarize, “The FSA has gone by a number of different names over the centuries, so I suppose its understandable that it would be unfamiliar to you.” He had given her some leeway, “Essentially, we are the civil intelligence officers of the Federation government. Like you and your comrades in Starfleet, we are tasked with protecting the Federation from outside threats, and in some cases… internal elements.”
“I myself have been an officer of the organization for over twenty years. Primarily working within counter-intelligence.” Mado paused. In his line of work, he had learned that it was always better to give less information.
Lt. Mado (FSA)
Alita let the silence stretch between them for a bit.
“Okay so you’re a hybrid right. Now what can I do for you? Oh and don’t skip the details this time.”
There was an edge to the pleasantness in Alita’s voice. She knew all about keeping secrets but that didn’t mean she liked it.
- Alita, MO/COS
The COS was clever. There was no sense in hiding what she would already find out.
“My primary mission is to observe and report. Whether that means internal policing is hard to say. Unfortunately, I was given very little briefing before my arrival, and my authority here is a bit murky. That said, there is no reason why I couldn’t put my talents to use assisting your department while I’m here. The captain has agreed to it, and so I am here to report for duty… as a ‘stunted’ member of your department.”
He cleared his throat for a moment.
“After all, regardless of the bureaucracy, we are all here to support the federation.”
The mans tone of voice was hard to read. He was either genuine, sarcastic, or possibly a lunatic.Pulling in slightly he awaited her response.
Lt. Mado (FSA)
One of these days Remy would learn to loop Alita in on these decisions but, she knew, he didn’t really have to.
“Well if it’s busy work you want I’m certain we could find some. Perhaps your experience in other matters could come in handy. Tell me what you can and I will do my part in making certain neither one of us are bored.” she said with a small genuine smile.
- Alita, MO/COS
Mado placed a hand on his knee, “Most of my last assignments involved policing starbases. I suppose if you ever need an investigation or interrogation I could assist. Of course I am also trained for combat… if you’re looking to get rid of me.” His voice pitched upward at the last sentiment. A dark joke, but it might bear some sort of truth given the captain’s response to his arrival.
LT Mado (FSA)
Alita shook her head and laughed a bit.
“No no, not get rid of you, but we are always looking to learn new things here. On a larger ship you have a better chance of having people with a larger cross section of knowledge no matter what department that is. In my opinion, this being a small ship, we need to know a bit of everything.” Alita explained.
She decided that this man could probably be an ally. There were already enough enemies aboard, why make another one?
