“All right, with that bugger out of the way, let’s get the Numinol in his system,” Shaidi wasn’t about to let that fever keep climbing, if she could help it. “Unless there are any more objections that are going to get my patient killed.”

Stepping around the nurse, she went to give the man a dose of the numinol tetramidaphin, knowing the NSAID was capable of treating fevers.. but she could only hope it would have an impact on the Commander’s.

The fever slowly came down to a low-grade fever level.

Meanwhile, Ayla had simply closed her eyes and let her mind go elsewhere as the virus continued to make her feel terrible. Instead of in Sickbay, she was on a beach somewhere warm, with pink sand and a large umbrella providing shade over her lounge chair. A book rested open and face down beside her, ready for her to continue delving into its depths. But for now her eyes were happily fixed on the waves crashing onto the beach, providing happy white noise from anything that might distract her fro her peace.

Ahearn watched the scanners as they continued to display the vital signs of those infected. Finally, after a few minutes, he spoke. “Dr. Shaidi, I’d like a blood sample from each patient. that has received the medication. I want to see if we can detect any immunological response. If we can trigger a response, we may be able to inoculate everyone.”

“Go for it. Just try to be gentle,” She nodded, turning to Sharise. “I’d like to get started on your treatment, Counselor, if you are comfortable with that. However,” Shaidi left the room for a few moments, returning with a small, circular device. “I want you to wear this neurocortical monitor, just out of precaution. We don’t know how your body will react to the medication, so any and all efforts to keep you safe will be taken. Okay?”

Ayla nodded, which was about as much energy as she had at the moment. While she was a bit concerned about hallucinations, they had promised to sedate her in that instance, so there was nothing to object to. “Do it,” she said softly.

Preparing a sedative, as well as the medication for her current ailment, Shaidi turned to Ayla. Making certain the monitor was in place, Shaidi retrieved the medication, slowly injecting it into her system. “I’m sorry if there is any pain,” Greve frowned, sincerely.

Fortunately, her body acted the same way the Commander’s did. A high fever that was nearly dangerous to the patient, and the infection died off like the Commander.

In effort to make certain it ended out like the Commander, Shaidi followed the same procedure, adjusting it if needed for the physiological differences.

Ahearn took some samples and looked at the CMO. “I’m going to see if I can come up with an inoculation for the ship. It looks like we can treat this thing in our crew, but I don’t want us spreading this garbage around the galaxy.” and he headed towards the door.

“All right.” Greve turned away, before something came to mind. “Oh! And Ahearn,” She glanced over with a faint smile. “Thanks for the help.”

Shaking her head, she returned to her patients, checking their vitals and scanning to make sure the agent had been eradicated.
