In the last few days, Dee had noticed a difference in Sisnil. He seemed tired, maybe sleep deprived, and broodier than normal. He was moody and snappy, though never with her. He spent a lot of time on his PaDD, but then seemed to grow frustrated and needed to take a break.

Sisnil was very short tempered and angry. It upset her. She knew that was her problem and not his. She would have preferred to avoid him, but she’d promised. So she sat quietly with him. Mostly entertaining Simon, to make sure he didn’t bother Sisnil. She was good at being quiet and unnoticed.

“You don’t have to stay if you’re that uncomfortable,” Sisnil said to her. “I want you here, but I don’t want you to feel like that.” He said to her during one of his frustration fueled breaks. He was leaning back in his chair, eyes closed.

Dradvia didn’t know what to make of it. A physical blow wouldn’t have hurt as much. She felt like she was annoying him. After everything with Stephens and her sessions with Tessan, she didn’t want to go out. She was more afraid than ever, and Sisnil being short tempered… she felt it was her fault. His whole days revolved around her fears and inadequacies.

When he dismissed her, she set Simon down and slunk like a wounded animal to the door. She actually bowed before she slipped out the door. She couldn’t go across the hall. They still didn’t know who had come into her room, and Tessan and Sisnil had deemed it unsafe. Where did she go? As far as she could go physically, where maybe she could cry where she wouldn’t annoy him. Maybe it wasn’t even her upsetting him, but she apparently wasn’t making it better.
