It was somewhere in the dead of night. Alita had tried meditating several times. She’d listened to river sounds that reminded her of home and burned a pretty smelling candle one of her cousins on the Genesis had given her, but her mind wouldn’t rest, so she decided to do the one thing that always calmed her.

Getting up, Alita walked to the area that she had designated for cooking and began laying out utensils and cooking supplies. It was going to be one of these nights.

Due to the heat of her ancient oven, she was cooking with her quarter’s door cracked open tonight the smells of cooking drifted through the corridors.

Celador was out for a walk, He wasn’t happy about it but, after spending most of the last 20 years sleeping out of boredom while in prison, he didn’t like to sleep much. It was also the start of his off day and he was feeling very restless. So he decided to go walk the ship. For the last 45 minutes, he had been walking the decks, using the jefferies tubes to go between decks instead of the turbolift.

As he rounded a corner he thought he smelled something good. As he followed his nose to realized it lead to his bosses quarters.

‘She must be be having a rough night too, or could be a date.’ Celador thought as they approached her quarters.

‘Lets find out.’ Squared replied thoughtfully.

Celador saw a crack in the door and knocked.

Alita set a platter down and glanced at her door.

“It’s open.” she said willing to share the night with any other night owls out.
