OOC: Just providing a few medical record notes here:

• He’d suffered a deep wound to the upper abdomen that had been sutured.
• Hypovolemic shock due to blood loss
• Given two units of Betazoid type Z blood along with plasma during surgery
• Kayolane 175 ml for sedation and pain had no effect
• Drechtal Beams were used to cut nerve signals and prevent pain sensation
• Blood worked showed echtallin poisoning. It was made to cause nerve damage and hyperactivity, fever but no infection… the body created a crusty residue at the wound from the immune system the nerves, it increased pain, prevented loss of consciousness. It interacted with typical medications, making symptoms worse rather than relieve them. The poison itself was like nervous system acid, damaging and burning the nerves, causing central nervous system dysfunction, which explained his body’s temperature fluctuations. There was the potential for long term nerve damage and organ damage both from the poison itself and the effects of the central nervous system dysfunction. It would cause pain too. It was intended to be a slow, agonizing death as the poison slowly dissolved the nerves and the central nervous system slowly shut down.

Treatment for Echtallin Poisoning:
- hydrolyze treatment - It was a compound that would neutralize the poison, but do it too quickly and it would react with the poison instead and kill him. It had to be given in multiple doses per day for several days.
- Pain medication that blocked pain signals should work, but it had to block the pain signals, because the pain was directly from the nerves. Side effects of the treatment were liver or kidney toxicity, heart problems, numbness, and a whole list of other things. The dosing information was there, describing how to decide how much to give, when, and how.
- and only a specific type of sedative would be able to put him to sleep, because the way it acted to put him to sleep was different than most others.
- Even with the antidote treatment - survival was only 20%
- Given Bromocriptine to help regulate body temperature and hormone functions.
- restraining field used to keep him still and ease the misfires of the nervous system

Sisnil nodded. He squeezed her hand, but it was so weak there wasn’t much of a difference. He remained stable, but he was obviously in a lot of pain. The antidote was working though, and after some time, he was able to sit up a little and do small things for himself.

That was when it became more apparent something was wrong. Even when Dee had brought a PaDD, he kept having her do everything with it. He had bumped his hand into a cup of water and knocked it over. Little things like that.

The bumped cup didn’t phase her. Sisnil was weak and his muscles damaged. It was the lack of infuriating independence that concerned her. Even when he was in more pain and delirious from it, Sisnil had insisted on having a PaDD to try and forge his records.

Following her instincts she began to run several scans. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m not worse than I was. I’m fine, Dee,” Sisnil said. “Why?” Her scans showed the poison wasn’t damaging his heart, everything looked about the same. Except… there was damage in the occipital lobe of his brain and damage to the optic nerves.

“Well, you were singularly focused on getting a PaDD and being allowed to work. Now, you have barely looked at it and haven’t asked for any files or to talk to Morris.” She patted his hand, “I know you’re exhausted, I just want to make sure that’s all it is.”

Readying over the results she understood. She sent a quiet message from the console to Tessan along with the scan results.

“You found something,” Sisnil said. It wasn’t a question, it was a statement. He could sense it in her emotions.

“Damage from the Echtallin,” she began to explain when Tessan approached.

Tealor walked in PaDD in hand. He looked at Zoi’s readings a second time. “I see you are awake, tired still?” he asked. “So couple things, you need to not use your gifts , you will heal faster. ” he did not wait for him to respond. “The poison has done some damage to the optic never in your eye, Dradvia lets get a deep scan.”

“Yes Sir.” Dradvia stepped away long enough to grab the neural scanner. She lowered the bed and then began the scan.

“I’m fine,” Sisnil said, but he always said that. He was going to say something, but Tessan didn’t give him the chance. The news didn’t seem to surprise him. He’d been hiding the vision loss.

The scan showed extensive damage to the optic nerves. The poison had done what it did, sat on and essentially dissolved them. It was throughout his brain, but the worst damage was in the occipital region.

Teasan looked at Zoi, he had been maintaining a barrier around his mind for some time now, he had to have been feeling this since he woke. There was no point in hiding any of it. “Forgive my bedside manner, but you know what we found is bad. We have to find a way to stop the decay in the brain or he’s going to lose more than his eyes. ” he was at a lose at this point he may need new eyes. =^= ” Computer, given the patients current scans and results, and current rate of never degeneration what are the recommended treatment options. ” =^=

=^=Treatment options include neurotegenrative therapy, gentrification replication, Psilosynine (ooc: neurotransmitter reponsible for Betazoid telepathy) injection, and cybernetic replacements. No treatment is recommended until Echtallin poisoning has been neutralized.=^=

Tealor’s lips shifted sideways as he chewed on his cheek. “Well that was not helpful, Ensign we have to figure out a way to slow this stuff down, does it follow any kind of pattern?” he said looking how the poison has progressed so far.
